Hello!! I began running in Feb and completed 8k after about 9 weeks - it was at a pace of 7:50 or so so not fast but I’m a beginner. I enjoy longer distance than pushing myself (and body) to go faster right now.
Anyway I cooked myself doing 22m in a week then jumping straight into hard intervals to push my pace a bit. So I had 3 weeks off and I’m finally back to very slow running however my feet just are NOT the same.
Run down - the injury was mild shin splints, Achilles tendinitis (agonising - I was limping when walking) heel pain, arch pain. Mostly on the left foot.
I did a slow 5k yesterday and had to retie my shoes halfway because I was so sore. My right foot arch was really sore and below my pinky toe down to midway down my foot was really sore while running - feels fine today.
My shoes were fitted 1.5 year ago through The Running Company.
No pain prior in my feet, 8k was fine. Weekly 5-6k runs were fine.
Shoes I wear are New Balance fresh foam 880.
I land a little hard I’m trying to actively stop heal striking, I have somewhat high arches that have randomly sort of hurt my whole life and fairly weak ankles.
So is it my runners that are the problem post injury? Suggestion for better shoes so I can walk into a running shop and have an idea of what to try on?
Any advice welcome, please and thank you!!
