Two pairs of Adizero Evo SL feel completely different.

Two pairs of Adizero Evo SL feel completely different.

Bought some blue and green Evo SL's last year and I have absolutely loved them. I have quite wide feet and struggle to find shoes that fit me well without losing their shape quickly. Adizero Evo SL seem to have held their shape even after 500km. Decided to buy a new pair in white but I've noticed immediately that they feel heavier, chunkier, hotter, don't look as nice on my feet, have lost their shape after a couple of runs, they dig in to the side of my foot and the black stripes are even peeling off already! I noticed that they are made in Indonesia and not China so the materials are different, but for it to be this drastic of a difference? It's crazy. Can't even buy two pairs of the same shoes without them being completely different it's annoying. I know it's been discussed before but wanted to hear more people's opinions on this. Is this a common thing with running trainers in general or is it specifically an Adidas thing?

One shoe recommendation for travel (All day walking, training/shakeout runs + marathon)

Hi all,

As the title suggests, I'm looking for a recommendation for a do it all shoe.

I'll be travelling to NY for the Marathon in November with the family. With limited space I am looking for one shoe that I can wear all day and walk (I assume it will be 20000+ steps per day), do a few shake out runs and then run the marathon in.

I did Sydney Marathon last year in 3:46 so I assume I will be doing NY in sub 4.

Would the Nike Vomero 18 be fit for purpose? If not, what would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

Who has put some miles on the Hyperboost Edge?

These seemed to be pretty polarising in the weeks following release. Lots of people had issues with the heel counter. The midsole seemed to be well-received.

I was wondering if anyone has any feedback after putting a few miles in them? Have your heels survived? Is the foam holding up? Did they cook your feet in the Northern summer?

Vomero 5 alternatives?

Ok, so I have pretty bad plantar fasciitis and have played around with many shoes. Brooks ghost, NB1080, vomero 18, brooks glycerin, nova blast 5… all eventually hurt my feet. Well I got a pair of Vomero 5s that are significantly harder and less cushioned but my feet love them. I can walk all day in them. Only downside is I do not care for the way they look, a little too “trendy” even in all black. Anybody have similar results? Any other shoe recommendations that are less squishy than traditional shoes? Thanks in advance

Good inexpensive starter trail shoes?

I am a guy who runs 10-14 miles a week on hilly roads.

My friend wanted to do a trail run in September so I found a less grueling one at 5k, in Pinson Alabama, the Darter Dash. As best I can tell, it is designed to not be an extreme race and not too hilly, but that leaves me asking do I run the in my

Nike Vomero Plus - stack might be too high. Grip too low

Aging Saucony Endorphin Speed 3 (my typical for local 5k road races). Lower stack but low grip for trails

Or should I buy an inexpensive trail shoe for the occasional trail race? If so, what shoe?

I might be able to find some past-year Hoka Speed Goats or something

There is a long list of trail shoes in the FAQ for this forum but I am curious about experiences of folks like me. Not heavily into trail running- 175 lbs, 5 foot 9, don’t want injury

—-background on the race I am planning ——
“This race is an enjoyable run through the trails at one of Birmingham's great outdoor treasures. These trails include some moderate elevation and you'll run along some delightful stretches beside Turkey Creek. Note that a short portion of both races will be on pavement.

Adidas Hyperboost Run?

I was browsing RunRepeat earlier today and saw that they have the Hyperboost Run in the testing pipeline. From what I can tell it’s an upper update to the Hyperboost Edge. Not much online from what I can tell. Anyone hear anything or know of a potential release date?

I liked the foam and fit but I had some heel slippage issues that I’m hoping a new upper would fix.

Asics Megablast for Hyrox

Considering getting a Megablast and maybe also using it fora Hyrox race. How was the stability on wall balls and lunges? And how was the grip during the sled push/pull?

Is vomero plus good as a easy and long run shoe?

Hey so basically I am using saucony endorphin speed 4 for my every run including tempo/interval easy and long runs. But with more distance in the long runs I have found that the shoe gets quite firm after some while leaving my toes in unnecessary pain. For that I have looked on the Internet to find some shoes that I could use on my easy and long runs and keep the endorphin speeds for my interval and tempo runs. I am currently wondering whether nike vomero plus would be a good fit for it or if I should look at some other shoe? For context my last long run was 15km at a pace of 6:00 min/km so I think i should rather focus on comfort than on speed as it's pretty slow pace. Thanks everyone for help))

Shoe Suggestions for 50 miler

I'm racing a 50 mile race on a fine crushed rail path in a few months time and trying to find a good shoe for my annoying feet. Most people tend to use normal road racing shoes and not trail shoes, as the surface is very smooth. Probably my favorite shoes of all time are the Endorphin Speed 3, as I felt like they were quicker but still comfortable. I've ran in all kinds of super shoes...endorphin pro 3, nike vapor/alphafly 3's, saucony elite 2, adidas pro 4, and while I really enjoy some aspects of all these, most of them end up hurting my toes or giving me blister issues after about a half marathon distance. My original plan was to go with the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 4, as i've always found them pretty comfortable, but I just did a run in them yesterday and out of nowhere they started annoying my second toe (it's a little purple today). And yes, I have a full thumbs width of extra space.

So now I'm thinking maybe I want to search for a less than super shoe that maybe has a bit more comfort. I'm currently doing a lot of my miles in Asics Superblast 3 and Novablast 6, and love both of these, but their stack height is too tall to be legal via the race rules. I know a lot of people will say if I don't win it doesn't matter, but I'd like to stick to the rules just in case I could potentially age group award/masters/etc. My planned pace is hopefully around 8:45/mi. I think the asics do well for me because the toe box must be higher or something. I've got two pretty thick and mangled big toenails from my milage, so they can be very negatively receptive to a low volume toebox. I've also ran in and hated the Speed 4, Evo SL, and Hyperion Max if that's any help. From a lot of reading and research I keep coming back to possibly looking at the Rebel V5, as it's legal height and gets compared a lot to a Novablast. I'm not opposed to a super shoe of some kind either, but I feel like at that relatively slower pace mabye id be better off just looking for comfort for seven plus hours on feet?

So, any suggestions?

Oh, I've also tried the Mount to Coast H1...i like it, but it aggravates my Achilles. And I recently picked up the Pure Nitro from Puma. It's a little on the firm side to me for that distance, plus it starts hurting my big toes after a bit.

Spike Suggestion: Mile to 5000m

Good day, everyone!

My marathon training is almost over, and I’ve been thinking about shifting my focus to the track afterward. I’d like to test my speed over the mile and 5,000m, with the goal of breaking 19 minutes for the 5K on the track.

Since this will be my first time racing and training in spikes, I’m looking for a pair that’s suitable for a beginner while still being competitive. My current options are:

- Nike Dragonfly 2
- On Cloudspike Amplius 2
- ASICS Metaspeed LD 2

For those who have experience with these models, which would you recommend for someone using spikes for the first time? I’d really appreciate any insights on comfort, forgiveness, and overall performance.

Advice needed: Ride 19 vs Endorphin Azura

So in the last few months, I started being more interested in running and ran a few times with my dog. Came to the conclusion that my really old running shoes won't cut it anymore.

After a fair bit of research (runrepeat is amazing), I narrowed it down to Saucony for my first real pair of running shoes, since I do have pretty neutral feet with the need for a somewhat bigger toe area. Weight is also around 200lbs.

Today I got to try on both of the above and got the size issue out of the way. Ended up being a perfect 10,5 US (44,5 EU), only thing I'm not 100% sure about is which model to get. I plan on starting with 5k runs with the goal of running 3 10k's a week eventually. I am also going to be running about 50% on hardpack roads and think that a regular road shoe will do just fine on those.

While trying them on, I noticed how nice the rocker(?) feels. It felt amazing since I've never had anything similar. For that reason, I'm leaning heavily towards the Azura right now.

If anyone has any insights regarding these shoes or maybe even other suggestions, I would be glad to hear them!

Megablast or Superblast 3?

Currently have Novablast 5 and like them a lot. Looking at getting another shoe to add in the rotation and I’m also going to run a half here pretty soon. Should I do Megablast or SB3?

Usually run about 15-20 miles per week. Usually 1 tempo run, 1 long run (6-10 miles), and 1 easy run (4-6 miles)

Vacation shoe of choice?

Hello fellow running shoe geeks!

Summer vacation is right around the corner for most of us soon I guess. I begin mine in a week.

With limited luggage room for running shoes, I thought about getting some inspiration from this forum regarding your favourite running shoe(s) when you go on vacation.

If you could only bring one, which one would you bring for a two week vacation?

Would be grateful to hear about the following:

- which shoe you'd bring

- why you'd choose that shoe

- which session you'd use it for

Looking forward to hear your choices in the comments!

Favorite short interval shoe?

Hey all! Potentially looking for a shoe to add to the rotation for shorter intervals (800m and less).

I typically use my Saucony Endorphin Speed 4, but I’ve just been loving my Megablasts so much that I’ve been wanting to pull them for shorter speed work too.

I do ideally want to reserve my Megablasts for tempo work/long runs with paces, and yes I could continue to use my Saucony Endorphin Speed 4s for short intervals, but honestly now that I have the luxury of my Megablasts I kind of want something more in line with the feel of the Megablast for short intervals.

What do you all enjoy for short interval work?

Natural supinator facing inner ankle soreness switching from Pegasus to Adizero Evo SL. Quit or push through?

Hey everyone, looking for some gear and biomechanics advice.

I run a 10-mile weekend long run on city asphalt. I used to run in the Nike Pegasus. I am a natural supinator/underpronator (distinct wear patterns on the outer edge of my shoes), and towards the end of my time with the Pegasus, the outer rear heel foam had frayed and compressed quite a bit. I also started getting pain in the front of my feet because the Pegasus lacked the deep cushioning needed for heavy concrete miles.

To fix the forefoot pain and get more protection, a few weeks ago I bought the Adidas Adizero Evo SL.

The Lightstrike Pro cushioning completely solved the forefoot pain, but it has created a brand-new issue. Because of the aggressive posterolateral heel bevel on the Evo SL, combined with the soft, high stack height and lack of midfoot stability, I feel like the shoe is forcing my foot to rapidly twist and slam flat the second I land. I just finished a 10.3-mile run at a 9'32" pace, but now the inside of both of my ankles (right around the inner bone/arch) are noticeably sore and strained. It feels like my inner tendons are working overtime to fight the twisting motion. I have run 3 or 4 times already in this shoe and have felt the ankle soreness almost every time.

Has anyone else who supinates experienced this with the Evo SL's heel bevel and softer foam? Is this just an adaptation phase for my ankles, or should I look for a max-cushion shoe with a wider, flatter, more stable neutral platform?

For context, I only run once a week on weekends and do 3 days of heavy lifting (upper body and legs) during the week.

Appreciate any help!

10K race shoe recommendation

I’ve got my first ever 10K race coming up in September with a goal of going sub 50 minutes.

M33, 85kg (187 lbs), 193cm (6”4)

5K PB - 24 mins

10K PB - 52 mins

Current shoes owned are:

- Novablast 5

- Superblast 2

- Superblast 3

- Endorphin Speed 4

I adored my SB2s and used them for most runs but they’re pretty dead now and not readily available in my size here in Aus. I recently replaced them with the SB3s but I’m not entirely sold on them and kind of regret not getting the Megablasts instead.

My ES4s are probably half a size too small, so not keen to use them for the race.

Options I’ve been considering include:

- Megablast

- Evo SL

- Endorphin Pro (am I fast enough for these?)

Lightweight, supportive daily trainer?

I've been a distance runner for over ten years now, and I think I need to switch shoes again. In high school, I ran in the Asics 2000s and Saucony Guides, and those were okay, but often too heavy. This was 2014-2018. I struggled with pain in my hip and knees if I didn't use shoes marketed toward overpronaters, so it was a trade-off. A few years ago, I tried out the Brooks Adreline GTS. The guiderails felt stiff to me, and I noticed some hip pain in longer runs. I think those were too stability focused. My most recent shoe has been Saucony Tempus. I asked the people at the running shoe store for something to still support my hips and knees while not being so heavy feeling. These felt really peppy at first, but the foam seemed to die pretty quickly. Other than that. It was a lighter shoe with no pain. Have these been phased out, though?

Tldr: need something that supports my hips and inner knees without feeling like bricks on my feet. 130lb woman, I run half marathons.
