Alphafly 3 for $190. Worth buying as my first supershoe?

I’m currently running in ASICS Superblast 2 and I’m considering picking up a pair of Alphafly 3 for about $190 while they’re discounted.

Most of my runs are around 5-10K, with some longer runs recently but I’m mainly trying to improve my 5K/10K times. A lot of my normal running is around 5:30 min/km, with faster sessions mixed in.

The Superblast 2 already works really well for what I do so I don’t necessarily need another daily trainer but I would like one. I was also considering something like the Evo SL, which would probably make more sense as a regular rotation shoe or possibly the new NB SC Rebel V1.

The appeal of the Alphafly is simply that I want to experience a proper carbon supershoe. I’m currently traveling in South Korea and at $190 it’s basically over $100 cheaper than the prices I remember seeing in Europe. I could keep using the Superblast for most of my mileage and use Alphafly occasionally for faster workouts, 5K/10K PB attempts, races, and hopefully a half marathon next year.

So is it even worth it at this price considering its age and the rumors of Alphafly 4 being released soon? Also any other similar shoe I should try out if it even makes sense in my situation to buy a carbon shoe?

Forerunner 165 or 70 for my wife, who I finally persuaded to start running with

I personally use the 165 which I bought for around $240 early this year and I’m really happy with it. Was looking for some basic watch for my wife and I’m currently deciding between the 165 which is on sale for $170 or the new 70 which goes for $280 at full price.

Trio on Stella and my team mates just run to join another team of their friends who instantly killed me. This matchmaking exploit sucks

Lost all my gear and now gotta go free loadout again just to meet bunch of people with an infinite stack of Bobcat and Tempest IV.

I really like this game but this stuff makes it unplayable

If you just got killed by a free loadout rat at Blue Gate let me know. I got the rat and have your Equalizer and Hullcracker IV

I just came to kill the Matriarch and suddenly got shot by a rat with a Ferro so I ran to cover but heard people talking over voice chat. Assuming it might be other raiders who killed the rat so I decided to check what happened.

There was a knockout raider getting looted by another one. I noticed the knockout guy had an Equalizer equipped on his body while the looter had a Ferro. I asked him several times if he killed him but since I didn’t get any reply from him he caught two bullets in his head from my Anvil.

If you’re here I want you to know I avenged your death and I’ll be happy to return your stuff

Alpstuga showing higher temperature?

Anyone else using the alpstuga and feeling like the temperature readings are not very accurate?

I have one in my office room where the temperature can get quite hot when I close the door due to computer running but I don’t feel like it’s 29 degrees hot here…

Latest 5k vs first 5k

These 2 runs are little over 2 months apart. I’m 30yo male who started running this year. I’m relatively fit but I’ve never done any active sport and on top of that I’ve been smoking a lot for quite a while now so one of my motivation to start running is the hope that it will help me quit this nasty habit.

The main difference between my first run and the latest run:

  1. Getting proper running shoes
  2. Body actually adapts and can take heavier load
  3. Working on my running form (I mean the way I run)
  4. Learning how to breath
  5. Not going all out from the start
+ that last run I decided to follow a random runner who I thought had pretty ok pace but it turned out that dude kept a pace around 4:30-4:50/km which was pretty tough for me to keep up with. I didn’t want to give up and kept tailing him which helped me to push further than usual. Now when I think about it, maybe he was trying to run away from me??
