Finally Took the Plunge
Finally decided to ditch my very old and sad Apple Watch and get the Vivoactive 5. Body battery is clearly struggling after a long Fourth of July😂 any tips and tricks appreciated!

I'm debating on buying a Garmin watch, and which one. I'm currently leaning towards the Instinct E, mostly because of it's lower price compared to the rest (important point for a student like me. I'll use the watch mostly during working out (gym/running) for insights into my HR etc, and while hiking for the same but also for navigation. I won't sleep with it on or wear it the entire day, it's mostly for activities.
The biggest thing that's making me debate is the single-band GPS on the Instinct E. How does this fair on the trail? I'm aware the navigation is limited without maps, but I don't mind. If I need a map it's on my phone on my pocket.
If there's any other advice you have about this model or any other instinct model, would be greatly appreciated!
I had been dealing with shortness of breath, a clear reduction in fitness despite proper training and recovery, pitting edema, and a series of digestion issues for about 3.5-4 weeks until I finally decided to go see my Dr. last Monday (6/22). After the blood work came back, it turned out I was severely anemic (Hemoglobin of 4.5) in addition to having gastritis.
3 days in the hospital, 4 blood transfusions, 2 ultrasounds and a 1 colonoscopy later, I’m grateful to say I’m doing much better. The photos attached show the increases in body battery and HRV after going to get the treatment I needed (date of hospital check in is highlighted in red square). My RHR has also been below 50 after being in low-to-mid 60s beforehand.
I wish I had paid more attention to my metrics and acted sooner, but hey, better late than never I guess. If your metrics are off and you feel bad, don’t hesitate to go see your Dr.
Hi, I’ve been using a Garmin Forerunner 970 for a month now. I run in the woods, and it consistently shows an inflated pace. I have Auto Pause turned off and am using multi-band GPS. Would running in an open area make a difference? I mean, would the watch calibrate itself to my arm movements, stride length, and so on, so that the next run in the woods shows a more accurate pace?
I started with Vivoactive, now I have a Venu2, what will fell like a real upgrade next? Forerunner or Fenix?
Am I right, that the Forerunner ist like something between Venu and Fenix?
Is the new Fenix worth getting compared to the Forerunner?
Hello all! Like so many users I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the options regarding Garmin devices. It feels like most of them can do what I need them from, so I wanted to ask you for some advice and recommendations.
I have been a proud user of Fitbit for more than 10 years, but Google health update may have killed it for me. Further, my Inspire 3 battery is starting to struggle after more than 3 years.
The precise use I would give it would be:
-General wellbeing. Tracking steps, heart rate and sleep. I do not need fancy analysis, just basic graphs and good definition of my heart rate zones, resting HR.... I kind of like the "cardio load" analysis that Fitbit does, as a way to compare efforts from week to week.
- I run, nothing crazy, I won't call myself a runner. Considering running more and longer distances though - Have done only a pair of 10k
-Gym workouts. No need to track specific body parts, but if somehow I can do this - e.g. using the app or linking services - that's nice. With my Fitbit, this is just setting exercise? strength training, and that's enough for me.
-swimming - this may have been the killer reason for me, as google health has completely screwed this for many Fitbit users. I swim for 1 km and the tracker says only 25 meters.
Thank you for your time and expertise!
I recently bought a 47mm Fenix 8 and I really like it. I’ve switched from an Apple Watch Ultra 2. I used to wear a Whoop 5.0 with the Apple Watch, and now I wear it with the Fenix. It’s just that I now think the Whoop is unnecessary. I can still request a refund from Amazon. Should I return it? Does anyone wear both?
I currently have the Fenix 6x pro it works fine and the battery is still solid. I wear it everyday. I've had it for 5 years. I run about 50k a week and regularly train for half and full marathons. I really fancy upgrading to the epix pro 2nd gen has anyone upgraded from the fenix 6x pro? Is this a worthwhile upgrade? I would like the extra features I'm just undecided whether to wait longer or go for the upgrade.
As in title. I am looking Garmin watch as good as 255 is, but for my wife, so it should be a little bit „girly”. Music feature is something I dont use and wife wont too probably. What she expect is the same simplicity and mostly - same price range :)
Thank you so much in advance!
Found a deal on FB, wondering how good of a watch it is considering it's almost 7 years old. How are the sensors, tracking, gps, etc?
I've had a very emotionally heavy few days, how was I able to achieve peak restfulness (or at least the best body battery score in the few months I've been using it)
After much debate and consulting with a friend who owned both Fenix 8 Pro and AWU3 I decided on the Fenix 8 Titanium w Saphire lens.
Could not be more happy, this thing is awesome and paired with Strava+Runna already taking my training to the next level!!
I can see how it can be addicting because if you don’t wear your Garmin you don’t get a stress recorded. You don’t get a resting heart rate. You don’t get to take advantage of the body battery. I have an Oura 5 and like the idea of being holistic with it but then I think what a waste of money if I don’t wear my Instinct 3 24/7 and just use it for running, strength training and other exercises.
I think my opinion is skewed as I'm used to all the features of my tactix and enduro and the more budget friendly watches don't seem to cut it. But I'm looking for a starter watch to gift to someone who's recently gotten interested in fitness. Can anyone recommend a good basic garmin watch with the following features:
* HRV
* daily suggested run workout
* garmin pay
* open water swimming trackable with GPS
*GPS on the watch (so doesn't need to be connected to the phone)
* not overly huge (the person has dainty wrists)
* not overly feminine looking
That’s why I so like it and use Instinct 3 only while vacationing in Greece 🇬🇷
Charged for 100% on June, 27 - one week passed and still 88% with 37d estimated with daily gps activities! Solar works pretty well!
No worry about getting scratches, no worry about swimming in the sea, no worry about anything with this beast! Absolutely amazing watch!
Soo I’m still rocking a forerunner 35. It’s tried, true and it’s never let me down for tracking at the gym, MTB or desert racing / bike training days. I get good data from it. Sometimes though I wonder if I’m missing out? Frankly it’s still lasting 2weeks with daily gym tracking an some weekend gps use. Heart rate tracking is getting slow or I’m expecting more lately. I consider a 265 but I’m just not sure? I wear it daily, I don’t have any notifications on, I don’t wear it for sleep (doesn’t do it I don’t think anyway). Any recommendations if I were to upgrade?
I need metrics like body readiness, hrv, how tired I am and if I am overtraining, etc. or should I use my venu sq for 8 months more and wait when 975 drops and grab 970 for cheaper or vivoactive 6
