Voice commands, and music everywhere

Hi all,
I just want my house to:

  1. obey some vocal commands
  2. without a cloud

How could I do that?

#1 means I need a mic on, in each room, right? I mostly always have my phone on me, if I need to open an app to speak to it, instead of it being on and listening at all times, it's fine.

#2 I don't want Google, Apple or Amazon to upload everything to their cloud. Today I only have IKEA home smart and I don't have high hopes for this (the app is great, but it's not a big computer with voice recognition), so I have computer ready where I'll soon install Home Assistant.

Anyone has an idea on how to do this efficiently or conveniently?
Thanks for anyone who can help or point to the right documentation!

Kajplats not working

Hi all! I have about 40 tradfri lights in my home. I recently got some kajplats bulbs. Every few weeks, the 6 kajplats bulbs stop working. I can't control them with the remote, can't control them in the app or in the google home app. I tried reconnecting one yesterday, but after deleting it, I couldn't connect it to the app anymore.

I'll usually wait it out, it lasts about 24 hours. But I'm looking for a faster solution as I don't like not being able to use my smart lights in my bedroom and office.

Any ideas?

Only Non-Matter devices being pulled into integration

So I just got a DIRIGERA Hub and like 20 Kajplats/Bilresa

They add added no problem luckily, however when I go to DIRIGERA integration and the code to HomeKit or Alexa it adds the hub but only pulls the non matter devices along with it, mostly older Tretakt plugs

How do I fix it? I don’t want to add each bulb to HomeKit manually via matter, that’s the whole reason I purchased the Dirigera Hub thinking it would control all the bulbs and I could use have them add automatically to other device via integration.

thanks

Ikea & Alexa: "We're making space for matter" / "Unable to link the skill at this time"

Is there some kind of system issue right now?

Yesterday all of our IKEA smart home devices stopped working with Alexa. In the IKEA Smart home app, under integrations, Alexa still shows as connected but there's a notification that says:

>We're making space for Matter
This integration needs to be renewed with Matter Bridge for seamless control of IKEA products in Apple HomeKit.
Follow the guide to renew the integration.

Setting aside the unclear relevance of Apple HomeKit to Alexa integration and no clear link to a "guide", I took the matter code and used it in the Alexa app to no avail. But Alexa now tells me that "the skill linked with [IKEA device] is not enabled"... yet when I try to re-enable the IKEA Home Smart skill, I can make it through the process of requesting a PIN by email only for it to fail with the error "Unable to link the skill at this time. Please try agian later".

Also, it seems impossible to "disconnect" from Alexa... when I click the disconnect button in the IKEA app it takes me to Alexa, where the skill is already disabled. Yet it still shows the integration as connected in the IKEA app. Normally I would disconnect and reconnect to try to solve this type of problem. It seems I'm stuck in limbo.

Mrwhosetheboss on IKEA

Starts out really positive, but then becomes more negative as reality dawns. Can't really argue with the final conclusion. Yeah, not great (for IKEA). 🤷‍♂️

Does the IKEA Dirigera matter bridge expose all entities to HA?

Does Dirigera expose the exact same entities and raw attributes to Home Assistant via the Matter integration as a direct USB Thread coordinator would? I'm thinking about it for more simplicity and power efficiency (to use HA only when I need complex automations)

I'm mostly wondering about the advanced metrics of the new Alpstuga sensor (specifically the exact CO2 readings and the LCD turn-off option), as well as the multi-click events (double-click, long-press) for the new Bilresa remote.

Additionally, how many of these entities actually carry over and work reliably if I bridge the Dirigera hub into SmartThings or Google Home? Do those platforms see the full sensor data and button actions, or do the features get watered down even further?

Also, is there any noticeable latency when using the Dirigera bridge in Home Assistant?

New matter over thread devices disconnecting

I recently bought a few of the new Matter-over-Thread products, but they disconnect often. Here is my current setup:

- Mains-powered: 2 bulbs, 1 smart plug (acting as a router to strengthen the network)

- Battery-powered: 1 motion sensor, 2 remotes/buttons, 1 water leak sensor, 2 door sensors

- all connected to my Home Assistant thread network (only ikea on there)

I am experiencing a lot of random disconnections. Even the smart plug, which is supposed to be a routing node that strengthens the mesh, drops off the network randomly.

Before I go out and buy more Thread devices to try and "strengthen" the mesh, I wanted to check in with the community. Is this a known issue with the current state of the devices? Are certain devices just notorious for dropping off, or is it more likely an issue with my specific network topology/border router?

IKEA website weirdness

I really hope I am just overreacting and causing unneccessary ruckus by not being patient.
But is this normal????

IKEA in our region(South Korea) just listed online TIMMERFLOTTE as new and discontinued.

As far as i know TIMMERFLOTTE never was on the website for our region.

From the list of new Matter over Thread devices only TIMMERFLOTTE and ALPSTUGA were not released nor listed on the website. With ALPSTUGA still nowhere to be seen.

Other new smart home stuff are listed and sold with few of them out of stock as of right now.

So I called their support yesterday and support person told me that as far as they can check it is indeed marked discontinued and there are no stock inbound nor in any warehouses.

Is this just them signaling that they won't sell this in the region?

Did any other product have this kind of processing?

this is the TIMMERFLOTTE page: https://www.ikea.com/kr/en/p/timmerflotte-temperature-humidity-sensor-smart-00618950/
for comparison this is currently out of stock MYGGSPRAY page: https://www.ikea.com/kr/en/p/myggspray-wireless-motion-sensor-smart-00619450/

ALPSTUGA temperature spikes

I am trying to explain the temperature spikes and corresponding humidity dips that my ALPSTUGA reports. Could it be the integrated heating of the SHT-Sensor? Can I disable that or the transmission of values during the heating?

Tradfri pairs but doesn't work

Hi, I'm trying to pair a tradfri switch (E1743) to an IKEA lightbulb. After successful pairing the switch doesn't do anything, won't turn on/off the light or dim.

I did a factory reset of both the light and the switch, multiple times.

I've used this lightbulb with previous versions of the switch and it worked fine. What am I doing wrong? Anyone got a clue please?

Can I use KLIPPBOK silent?

Hi, I would like to put a water sensor to the computer of my outside plant watering system as i already had it twice breaking and not instantly recognizing. Thing is, I do not want it terrorizing if it gets wet due to rain or normal use. Is there some way to force it silent or another suitable Mater over Thread water sensor? I would like to only notify me over home assistant.

Wich hub?

I'm 16 And my mom finally wants cool smart home stuff. But she wants me to set it up.

She really want the Ikea Hub and just want to use ikea only.

I have multiple questions. Is this a good beginner hub? Can I use the google home app? without it all breaking? How's the support for other devices let's say I have some Ikea lights and ones on wifi can I control them both via my Google home mini?

Thank you ZIGBEE!!

Hello! A little review of my experience with the new Matter products.

Previously I had 5/6 Tradfri bulbs, I moved so I decided to change everything for Matter (I currently have a dozen GU10, five E26, two E14 and about a dozen bilsera switches)

After too much time spent configuring all this I was rather relieved, I was frustrated that after a re-ignition it takes 5/6 seconds to regain control, sometimes the color changed without context.

I finally decided to switch them to zigbee mode, BETTER DECISION, everything is better integrated and more fluid, I was able to link them to Apple Home and Google Home at once without having to reimport everything. Even for the Setup I was able to integrate my GU10 4 by 4 for each ceiling light. Best choice while waiting for Matter to improve!

Bilresa Dual Button Update Clears Settings?

I have 8 Bilresa buttons currently and recently after the update I went to press the buttons and nothing happened. At first I thought that maybe they were unresponsive but after checking the home app, there were no issues and the buttons were online.

I then checked the configuration of the button and found that there was nothing configured for each press setting.

This is the first issue I've had with these switches. After some basic searching, I hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere else and wanted to see if anyone here had seen this behavior.

Bug in Dirigera hub - not sure where to raise issue

I have migrated most of my IKEA Zigbee devices to a new DIRIGERA hub. Among them is a BADRING water leak sensor. I have also connected the new VARMBLIXT color lamp with Matter over Thread.

I want the lamp to turn on at 100% red when there is a leak. However, I have found that the light turns on at 100%, but only in white.

Where should I raise this issue?

Parasoll, Vallhorn etc: relays?

Do the new IKEA Zigbee sensors like Vallhorn, Parasoll, Badring act as Zigbee relays, extending the Network? Or do i need to place some other relays?

Alpstuga: Google Home telling me Air Quality is good, while the IKEA App tells me it is fair..

Why aren’t these in sync? I finally got some home automation up and running for my Alpstuga.

If the air quality is fair, the air purifier turns on during the day
If the air quality is poor, it will turn on during the night

Clearly, the air quality is fair and not good. The orange light is blinking in the Alpstuga, and the emoticon and CO2 values aren’t good either.

Why isn’t Google Hime properly updating?

Using a Dirigera.

Tofsmygga not switching off

I recently bought a Tofsmygga plug. I’m using it for string lights in the garden. However when I switch off the lights they keep burning slightly due to current not fully being switched off.

Anyone seen the same? How did you solve it?

Can’t pair Bilresa two buttons to Apple HomeKit

Have several IKEA kajplats and a myggstift - had never any problem to pair them. But yesterday I bought a kit with kajplats and bilresa two buttons - but can’t pair the bilresa. When I scan the code get error code “can’t add Pairing Failed”. HomeKit discover the bilresa but the code failed. Is a bad piece? I do not have ikea dirigera, use Apple HomePod
