I tried reading some variations, but I can't seem to find many that satisfy me. Of course, I'm well-aware that nothing could match canon, but something like Unequal Affections is totally fine (while I do have some complaints with the way Elizabeth is portrayed, it's overall a great attempt). But then I tried reading Abigail Reynolds and was super disappointed... Are there any hidden gems with great characterization and good, slow pacing that don't rush them together in the first 50 pages and then spend the next portion of the story on smut?
