Georgiana's Married/Failed Proposal

A Specific P&P fanfiction: Darcy proposes in 1812, gets rejected, leaves England for 5-6 years. Returns to find Georgiana married to an Irish/Scottish husband (possibly Donovan). Story focuses on consequences - Darcy is physically changed from heartbreak, Georgiana has experienced miscarriages but is happy in her marriage. Very melancholy tone, little hope for Elizabeth/Darcy reconciliation. Found on Amazon/Kindle, possibly self-published. I was interested by it but only ever read the preview (late) at nighttime and I'm unsure if the author unpublished it after I had looked at it, it has an unknown title or what and I'll know if you guys find it by the preview if it's it or not. I think this is a good draft title. Thank you if you can help and if not thank you for at least trying.

Best P&P retellings from Darcy’s POV?

I know it’s a bit cliche, but I love retellings from the POV of the other protagonist (e.g. Twilight and Midnight Sun); which is why I’m currently looking for such from Darcy’s perspective.

I currently bought Stanley Michael Hurd’s Darcy’s Tale trilogy (they’re looking promising from what I’ve read so far—the first half of Book I). But I need more. However, I’m very fastidious (like Darcy himself I guess), and if there’s many inconsistencies with canon, they bother me to no end. For instance, I tried that one book which is meant to be Darcy’s journal, but noticed so many inconsistencies with the canon timeline that I abandoned it. Please, I’d appreciate any recommendations, especially if you have some niche ones.

There are some awesome books on this list!

Don't miss out on Agony & Hope, Silver Buckles, and Some Particular Evil. The Elizabeth Short Story collection is also excellent. Some of the books may be available tomorrow, but just in case, make sure to get them today.

Any favorites on the list?

looking for books where the Bennets attempt to force Elizabeth to marry Mr Collins and she runs away

I own a few already- The Flight of Elizabeth Bennet by Laraba Kendig and Elizabeth’s Escape by Iris Lim- but I have a particular fondness for this trope and want to read more of it. I would prefer they were available on Kindle. That being said, if you have any particular favorites to recommend that are not on Kindle, I may be willing to branch out.

It looks like honey_and_smoke from AO3 is publishing as Victoria Lombard.

Quills & Quartos included an announcement for “So Great A Cost” by Victoria Lombard in their new releases announcement. There was link to Amazon/Kindle with release date of 31 December 2026

Any KU P&P variations with some steam?

I feel like this fandom has so little explicit fanfics, and the ones that are explicit are mostly erotica (which I’m NOT looking for). I’m looking for a P&P variation on KU between Darcy and Elizabeth with open door sex scenes. But also, I want the book to have a plot. I don’t want erotic romance or erotica. I also love high angst plot lines, so that’s a bonusB Plot can be whatever, but those three things are my requirements. Thank you all!

JAFF and The World Cup

In honor of the World Cup, I thought I'd recommend two of my favorite moderns set in the world of football/soccer.

The first, England Has Three Syllables, is located at A Happy Assembly. It was posted in 2010 and has great footnotes. Darcy is a football star, Elizabeth is a journalist.

The second, Off The Pitch, is really funny. and can be found at AO3 by Rosie J. I'll post the link in the comments. I think it originally posted in 2014. Great banter. Both former soccer players, now sports broadcasters.

Both are rated E for Everyone.

Mrs. Clay FF?

I would love to read a version of Persuasion, from the viewpoint of Mrs. Clay. Anyone have suggestions? A brief search of this sub came up with bupkis.

Darcy who does some proper Yearning

In a bit of a slump and thinking to re-read some old goodies, so please share your favourite books where Darcy yearns HARD. Like moments of his inner struggle manifest through physical mannerisms,i.e the famous Hand Flex Scene, but in written form. Bonus if Elizabeth is unaware and edges him on/ is becoming aware and responds to it. Idk I just wanna giggle and wiggle my toes when reading something juicy again…🙏❤️

I just remember that elizabeth and darcy have fight in their london townhouse, she angrily goes down the stairs and falls down. She was preganent but darcy didnt know. I dont remember where i read it tho...

Edit: found it and this is the most accurate reaction of mr darcy to the compromise. Loved it.

fics/variations where Darcy is a widow and has a child

Hi, looking for stories as it says on the title! Any stories where Darcy has a child from a first marriage and where the child has an important role.

I recently recommended Neither Duty Nor Honour by beakybeakybeaky and I remembered how much I loved it. I also loved So Great A Cost by honey_and_smoke (hope they’re ok!). The former has a Darcy with a good relationship with his child, while the latter is more angsty. Any would do! Thanks!

I’m not trying to yuck others yum but

********
My own up date
********

The prevailing idea seems to be it’s either AI and or a morality trend. I’m not sure it’s all AI but am sure that “clean” what ever that is gets up voted by manipulation either by live humans or Kindle.

Only 48 upvotes on a situation that people are passionate about. If this conversation was on FB everyone one of us would trounced. I am disappointed that people feel it’s appropriate to use ‘stars’ and accolades to change products for others. Once again i can’t stress this enough I’m not talking about erotica I’m talking about the complete verity of the experience being available.

I don’t have my own Kindle but I will now reviewing every book I read and they will seem my son but I will be trolling the trolling.
*********

Original post

I feel like most new JAFF is low angst to no angst or somewhat boring. I think I’ve read most of the older stuff that was more exciting. I’m wondering if it’s a new trend or more of a permanent shift.

I’m not looking for (and I can’t stress this enough) erotica. I’m not
Looking for sex to be the point of the book. However, holding hands then skip to a nervous meeting with the house keeper isn’t closed door. Honestly, the modern equivalent would be work the next morning. Isn’t there something between erotica and boring? Maybe kissing or slamming doors or waking up together.

Men curse, that was the point of separation after dinner. They didn’t curse in front of women but men curse. I assume they even slipped up from time to time in stressful situations. Curses weren’t even that bad in the 19 century. Shakespeare was vulgar and crass from time to time. Thats kind of what I expect in ‘witty dialogue’. Teens even read things like that in HS.

The London 19 century sex industry was insane men were not pure or expected to be. Not to mention humans have been humans for all of humanity.

I’m not expecting all book to be written for adults as others shouldn’t expect all books to be teen fiction. I’m just wondering is it a permanent shit?

I’m don’t know it’s 3am I may delete all this when I wake up. I’m not trying to yuck other yum I’m just trying to see of sharing is in our future.

It LOOKS like the Jane Austen 250th Birthday Prompt Fest is still active, so...

Hey all, so I was looking for a JAFF fic fest, because I seriously need some incentive and a deadline to write... and it actually looks like the Jane Austen 250th Birthday Prompt Fest is still ongoing. The prompts are up here: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/Austen250PromptFest/claims?for_user=true and more of the rules are here: https://austenexchange.dreamwidth.org/

AFAICT, the signups seem to be 24 July to 2 August, and the posting deadline is 18 September. I was able to sign up for a prompt even though it obviously isn't July 24th yet. So I did it!! This was possibly an insane decision. :P But I'm going to do it. Is anybody else participating in this fest?

Free JA Kindle books?

Last year there was a day where some authors gave away their JA Kindle books. I was able to pick up several I hadn't read before. Does anyone know if that's happening again this year? (It was in the summer sometime but I don't remember when.)
