Keep “temporary” bonding?

I face planted into the floor and broke a decent piece of my front tooth off. Went to an a emergency dentist and he fixed it, but says it’s temporary (max a few months), but I’ve been seeing people on here say these kind of treatments can last years ?

I live in Mexico and will follow up with my regular dentist when I go back. I do have some cold sensitivity when I drink cold drinks so I may or may not need a root canal later but the US dentist said I’ll need a crown to replace this temporary composite ?

I’m wondering if I should just keep this and wait til something happens to consider a crown. I paid almost $800 for this fix.

I’m not unhappy with the way it turned out, was considering just refining it a bit on one side with my regular dentist. I just don’t want to keep something if it’s really truly meant to be short term.

Thoughts ? Thanks
