Hoping somebody can help out here as I’ve tried everything I can think of.
I recently bought a new Lenovo monitor. I haven’t used my MacBook with a monitor for some time now, but I did in the past and it always worked without any issues.
When I tried to connect to my new monitor, it didn’t work. The MacBook is charging via the power delivery, but the monitor is not receiving any display and when I look under displays in my MacBook, there is no external display shown (even when clicking detect display).
I’ve tried using hdmi (via usb c apple adaptor) instead of usb c and I’ve also tried connecting to 2 different monitors that I have at work and it’s always the same result. So it doesn’t seem to be a problem with a specific monitor or with a specific cable.
I’ve tried all the different troubleshooting steps I’ve found online, eg power cycling, booting in safe mode, using terminal to delete and reset display settings etc etc but nothing has made any difference.
As a side note, both USB ports seem to work perfectly otherwise (ie for charging, connecting iPhone, connecting external usb drive etc) and when I run apple diagnostics it’s not flagging any issues.
At this point I’m a bit lost at what the issue can be and how to go about solving it. One thought I had was that there’s an issue with the I/O board, but I’m not sure if that lines up with this symptom (ie that the only issue is with connecting to monitors and otherwise the ports work perfectly.
Hoping that someone with more experience than me is able to weigh in and offer something because I’m out of ideas!
