Need help with my 10 year old son.
Hello my son is in 4th grade, he has been on methylphenidate since 1st grade. We have went from 5 mg, 10 mg, 10 mg with a 5 mg mid day, and now on 27 mg er. Since switching to the 27 mg er it seems to not work at all. We get messages from his teachers 3-4 times a week about adhd related behaviors. His grades have dropped, I am at a loss for what to do. I’ve tried tough parenting and gentle parenting. He’s had a tutor, he has a 504 plan and I am working towards getting him an iep. He is such a sweet loving kid but I don’t know what to do to help him with school. We have took away electronics tried everything in between. He goes to bed at 830 wakes up at 630. I am already an anti medication guy he’s skinny and doesn’t eat much due to the meds I really wish he could just not take them at all. But when we started them we noticed a major change for the good at school so we stuck to them, but now it’s like it’s all gone. We also only give it to him on school days, no weekends days off of school summer time nothing only school days. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
