Quick CO2 jet breakdown for anyone adding them to their setup

How they work: pressurized liquid CO2 releases through a nozzle, flash-expands to gas at around -110°F, creates the fog burst. Dissipates in seconds — no residue, no smell, no fire risk.

Control: most professional units run on DMX 512, same as your lighting rig. Precise triggering, adjustable duration, sync multiple units across a stage.

Main formats: handheld cryo guns (operator-held, great for DJs and mobile performers), mounted jets (floor or truss-mounted, fixed direction, DMX triggered), swing jets (motorized nozzle, up to 180 degrees of movement).

Tank sizing: a standard 50lb CO2 siphon tank gives roughly 30–60 bursts depending on duration. Plan your refill logistics for longer shows.

My suggestion: rent first if you're new to it. Lets you see how it fits your production before committing to a purchase. CryoFX (cryofx.com) is one of the main manufacturers if you want to go direct rather than through a rental house. Happy to answer questions.
