Hi all, looking for some advice before I force anything or make the problem worse.

The watch is an IWC Pilot Chronograph IW388102, 41 mm, APSF, with an SA69385 movement. The crown pulls out to the first/second position where I can adjust the day and date, but I can’t seem to pull it out any further to the time-setting position.

I’ll attach a video showing the issue. In the video, the crown clearly reaches the day/date setting position, but it does not move into the time-setting position.

A few questions:

  1. Is there a specific trick with this movement/case, such as needing to unscrew or align the crown in a certain way?

  2. Could this be a keyless works issue, stem issue, or something misaligned inside the crown/stem mechanism?

  3. Is this something a watchmaker can usually fix without replacing major parts?

  4. Should I avoid pulling harder and just take it in for service?

I’m not trying to DIY the repair unless it’s something simple and safe. Mostly trying to understand what the likely issue is and whether this is a known problem with this movement.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
