I want to change the crystal on this gmt rep - is the scalloped metal piece in this photo the retaining ring? How would I get this off - noob - just doing this for fun. Tried to find videos but none have this scalloped appearance. I’m assuming this is the crystal retaining ring? I had the movement out and was working on it but it didn’t seem to want to budge.

Thanks to the community here at RepTime I decided to order this beautiful watch. However, this is the first movement that arrived with a mechanical problem. I throw it on a timegrapher and only in the dial-down position I get an abnormal beat error of around 3.0ms that sometimes jumps even into 6.0ms territory. In every other position the watch gives an OK reading. Have you ever run into such issue? I immediately left it with a local watchsmith for a diagnosis for which I need to wait for 4 weeks due to a long queue. An example reading attached.

Is it common to receive this watch with potential hairspring/pivot/jewel issue in such a thin movement?

The cardboard box had a sign of strong hit in the corner so it was handled roughly in transit.

I hope someone can help me. I received a VSF Datejust 41 and it was completely covered in protective film. All loose pieces. I managed to remove almost everything, but on the sides of the lugs there is still film under the bezel. If anyone knows how to remove this, I would really appreciate hearing from them.

I’ve wound 30 times but still there was no movement, as someone advised I hit it on palm of my hand, it started working not more than a minute. Trick with hitting worked 3 times after it stopped. Now when shaking the watch it makes a sound like something is loose inside. How big is the damage? And was it done by me or the transportation? Or the watch was already sent to me damaged?
So upsetting to receive first rep dead. Any advices guys?
It is a TD, still haven’t received an answer from him.

Hello folks. I bought this VSF Starbucks a few months ago and have recently been bothered by the halo/reflection around the hand stack. I didn't even notice it during Quality Check

I can see it most of the time, but it's much more noticeable under bright lighting. My older VSF doesn't have this effect, and neither does my gen Explorer.

I was wondering if this is something that can be fixed, and if so how, so I would start looking for a watchmaker to do it. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, got a VSF Sub date and when reaching midnight, instead of switching the date in one “click” I got this until it goes on to the next number. Is that normal or a common issue?
If this is fixable, is there any shop or anything in NYC that can take care of that?

Looking for a quick sanity check on a VSF 41mm Submariner I just got.

Comparing it side-by-side with my Starbucks and my no-date 41mm Sub, the crystal on this one sits noticeably higher up. I know a tiny bit of the chamfered edge is supposed to protrude past the ceramic bezel insert, but this one feels like it's pushing the limit. I can't tell if this is just within normal VSF/rep tolerances, or if it's a real issue I should be worried about (like compromised water resistance or an obvious aesthetic "tell").

To make things more confusing, I noticed the bezel assembly was lifting and warped upward significantly on one side (shown in the photos with the massive gap underneath the teeth). Whenever I press down on the sides of the bezel I hear a faint click, there is zero wobble and the bezel does not shift vertically or horizontally. Crazy thing is out of my three subs, this one with the "issue" has the best click experience when you turn the bezel, the others feel dry. Maybe the other two are the issue?

First four pictures are of VSF 41mm date-sub, also included pictures of my VSF 41mm no date and my VSF Starbucks for reference.

My questions for the sub:

1. Does this crystal height look within normal QC tolerances for a VSF 41mm, or does it look like it isn't fully seated in the gasket?
2. Could the tall crystal be related to that lifting bezel? (e.g., if the internal Hytrel ring was pinched/kinked and pushing things out of whack?)

Appreciate any second opinions from the experts or Watchsmiths here!

Hi, on my VSF hulk after 6 years, I noticed yesterday I have a problem with the date : when I go after midnight, the date doesn't change anymore 😞 is it a big problem ? Anyone knows if it's possible to fix it ? Thanks to community 🙏🏻

Found 2 broken screws and that other piece. Anywhere I can mail the watch to get it fixed here in the US?

Am i able to take this off or should i just take it to a jeweler i put it on wrong by accident and the pry tool doesnt fit to get into the spring bars now
