Nigerian Moving to Canada With ~$50k Savings How Would You Use It Strategically?

Hey guys,
I’m a Nigerian who has been living overseas for over a decade, and I’m now planning to relocate to Canada for personal reasons. I’m trying to approach this move as strategically as possible and would really appreciate honest advice from Nigerians already living there.
I should have around $50k+ in savings when I land. My goal is not to waste the opportunity or burn through the money surviving blindly. I want to settle properly, build stability, and position myself well long term.
A bit about me:
Tech background / software engineering
Used to living abroad independently
No unrealistic expectations about “easy life”
Open to different provinces/cities if it makes sense financially and professionally
Long-term mindset focused on stability, career growth, and eventually investing
If you were in my shoes:
Which city/province would you start in and why?
How would you divide/utilise the money?
Would you rent cheaply first, buy a car immediately, or avoid one?
How important is credit score early on?
What mistakes should I avoid in my first 1–2 years?
Is $50k enough to settle comfortably while job hunting and stabilising?
Any advice specifically for Nigerians transitioning into Canada?
I’d really appreciate practical advice, not motivational speeches. Even tough truths are welcome.
