Ron gets a lot of criticism for stringing Lavender along while having little interest in her after the initial attraction. But Ginny seemed to be treating Dean in a similar way. We don't see it as explicitly described as the book is from Harry's PoV. But it seems she was slowly pulling away and purposely picking fights with Dean as she lost interest. The whole row as to why they broke up felt manufactured (since we know it was Harry who stumbled into Ginny not Dean) to start an argument and Ginny clearly seems unaffected by their breakup while Dean is clearly rather miserable. I think Ginny was treating Dean as badly as Ron was treating Lavender.
