How and when did Voldemort rise to power

I have yet to find a good proper theory or explanation on this. He was a college student who had a muggle father. I seriously doubt it was not discussed or anything. Yes he started the horcrux process quite a while ago but how did he gain followers especially on pure blood supremacy. Like dude, your father himself was a muggle. How did you get away with this?

And not just that, he gained an insane following, and went as far as terrorizing an entire generation of wizards. Nobody dared question him on his blood status?

Or was his status purely because of power of horcruxes and being insanely talented wizard? Still doesn't make sense for him to be spearheading the pureblood movement.

Am I the only one who genuinely felt bad for her?

Like Ron, you initiated contact with her and led her on. Yeah she was a bit clingy but dude, you literally gave her dreams and what not and suddenly you dropped her like nothing. I really felt bad for her when I saw her crying. This was one of those moments I didn't like Ron at all!

Ginny and Dean and their parallels to Ron and Lav

Ron gets a lot of criticism for stringing Lavender along while having little interest in her after the initial attraction. But Ginny seemed to be treating Dean in a similar way. We don't see it as explicitly described as the book is from Harry's PoV. But it seems she was slowly pulling away and purposely picking fights with Dean as she lost interest. The whole row as to why they broke up felt manufactured (since we know it was Harry who stumbled into Ginny not Dean) to start an argument and Ginny clearly seems unaffected by their breakup while Dean is clearly rather miserable. I think Ginny was treating Dean as badly as Ron was treating Lavender.
