So this past February I invested in a normal medium Nectar memory foam mattress. It was doing pretty well for me until the past 2 weeks. It's causing me to not sleep at night really. It's giving me a lot of back pain. Especially right along my spine. It's giving me these tiny knots in my back that are hard to get to and roll out yet are very very achy and sore. I'm considering getting rid of my Nectar and getting a different brand. I've been hearing a lot of people say Nectar is a shit brand. So im curious about the Bear brand, Helix, and Saatva brand. Now I am a side sleeper through and through. Only position I can sleep in. It's strange because I always hear that firmer mattresses are terrible for side sleepers but Nectar and my previous mattress were medium mattresses and with those I can't help but feel like Im sinking. I HATE HATE HATE that sinking feeling. I know every mattress does that after so long. But even sometimes with brand new ones, I feel like there almost too soft and don't support my back. I'd hate to get a firm mattress though because Ive heard they tend to be the most returned mattresses and that they're bad for side sleepers. Of course everyone is different and maybe getting a firm mattress is what I need. My great grandfather was tall and skinny like me and apparently his mattress use to be hard as a rock and he loved it. Maybe something firmer is the way, I'm not sure. But I'm curious on your guys thoughts on those brands I mentioned and if anyone has any advice on my side sleeping back pain woes. With these brands I mentioned, I can't get any of their luxury versions because I can't afford those prices. So I'll have to settle for their more affordable versions.

Hey everyone. So this past February I bought a new mattress. It is a Nectar mattress. I bought their most basic, all foam one. My friend recommended it to me. So I bought it and it's been pretty good so far. Hasn't been life changing but I finally was sleeping every night and not being up all night with back and neck aching/pain. But now recently, my bed has been bothering me a LOT. It's been giving me these little knots in my mid back near my spine that are not only hard to roll out and ease, but they ache like crazy when laying down on my mattress. I've flipped the mattress around too and it hasn't helped. Now I do have posture issues that are a lot of the reason why I have neck and back pain but I'm working on that. This new pain in my mid back I feel like is because of my mattress. I can't tell if it's because my mattress is too firm or too soft. I want to say maybe too firm because I've heard there all foam mattress is a bit better for back sleepers than side sleepers. I just got it because it was the cheapest option and the sinking feeling that softer mattresses tend to get after a while is awful to sleep on. Maybe it's possible my pillow has a bit too much loft and is making my back be bent in a weird way. Basically my question is, is this normal for a new mattress to feel good for the first month or two and then it starts to get shitty? Should I maybe get a mattress topper? Or should I possibly think about buying a new one?

So I've been dealing with tight neck and back muscles for about 3 years now. This past winter was extremely rough. I was having so many nights of not sleeping because my neck and my back would be tight and achy and my pillows wouldn't feel good. My mattress was awful and not working for me and I was sleeping on mattress toppers on the floor which also wasn't ideal. So I bought a new mattress (Nectar) and it has been pretty good for the past month. Still waking up tight but not too badly and sleeping at night. Now it's getting bad again. This is the second night that I am up extremely late and pretty much pulling an all nighter and not sleeping. My back and neck is just so tight and achy. The second I lay down it just hurts. I stretch a lot too. Ive been stretching so much I've gotten more flexible with certain poses. It's not helping that much. I don't have amazing posture, I've been working on it. I will do lots of stretches and some posture exercises and it mildly helps. I have knots in certain parts of my neck that have been there for 3 years. They never go away. Ever. I try to strength train my upper body, but I notice when I do that, I wake up the next day extremely stiff, even after stretching too. The mix of sore muscles from exercise but also the tight achiness from sleep makes me so achy and in pain. I am a side Sleeper through and through. I simply can't sleep on my back bc I can't breathe well on my back. I'm pretty sure I have sleep apnea on my back. Which is strange because I am tall and skinny, however laying on my back and trying to sleep I breathe so much worse. I just don't know what to do anymore or what is wrong with me. It's affecting my health and my work because it makes me have to call out a lot because I can barely function on 0 hours of sleep. I have a doctors appointment in June but I might try to go sooner than that. Idk how the doctor will help. Idk if I need physical therapy or something. I'm so sick of living like this. Sleep is always miserable. I get DREAD at bedtime. I pray every night and hope I can sleep and get through another night. I envy people who don't have this issue. I have owned so so many different pillows over the past 3 years. I sleep with contour ones now. You'd think they would fix a lot of the issues but they really don't. At least for me. I feel like the main issue is bad posture but it feels so hard to fix because it takes so much commitment and constancy and it's hard to do that and do strength training when I am just not getting any sleep at night whatsoever. I feel cursed.
