Looking for feedback on a really weird build
Hi all! Long time lurker, first time builder and poster. Hoping to get some feedback from more experienced DIYers before pulling the trigger.
We're a big couple (I'm 6'0" 295lbs and my wife is 5'4" 190lbs) and both combination back and side sleepers. We occasionally take naps with our 15 month old (2'7" 25lbs :p). I'm also looking to get on top of my health soon with a goal weight of 220, so I want a mattress that will work for that whole journey. Here's the weird setup I'm working with from bottom to top. All foam and the cover is from foambymail.
- 6" caliber edge pocketed coils (13.75ga)
- 3" medium dunlop latex (29ILD)
- 2" 4lb ViscoPLUSH memory foam (14ILD)
- 1" HD36-HQ PU foam (35ILD)
- 12" Fire retardant striped poly-cotton cover
Should end up around $950 out the door.
I know the 1" of HD36-HQ is definitely the weirdest part of the build. It's to stabilize the top layer just a bit and add a little more firmness. More importantly, our toddler should be able to sleep on top of it instead of sinking into the memory foam. The rest is fairly standard from what I can tell. Curious to hear the community's thoughts!
