Today I was sitting in my economy class (yes, that kind of economy class, which is technically unsuitable for people over 1.70/5ft8), when the passenger in front of me reclined her chair.
I thought it to be almost unforgivably rude (because who does that in economy class?!), but I didn’t want to say anything because I am nowhere near proficient in the language I believed she spoke. So my knees where against the back of her chair, and everytime I moved she must have felt it. At some point it became so cramped I lifted one leg up, so my knee was against a higher point of the chair.
She must also have felt that, because she waved the stewardess over and (as far as I understood), asked her to tell me to stop pushing against the chair.
With some difficulty I manager to make clear that I was unable to sit any other way, and the stewardess understood and told me to take a seat in the front row of economy, to have more lag room.
I can’t lie, it felt like a win. But now I am thinking that I might be the asshole because maybe I could have made more of an effort to not push against the chair. Also because the people on the first row were having the luxury of having an empty seat between them before I came along and took it.
AITA?
Edit to make my sitting position more clear: So one foot was on the ground, so I could put my leg a little slanted (if that makes it clear), and one raised, to make room for the other. The passenger in front of me was curled up on het chair, so one leg pulled up with het knee towards her chest.
