Zoomer stepson refuses to engage with airbud film festival.. seeking advice
every year I run a small air-bud film festival for my family and a few close friends (we call ourselves air-buddists). We screen all 16 airbud films back to back on a large projector I have set up in the yard, 30 hour total runtime with 15 min bathroom breaks every 4 hours. Its a family tradition at the this point and previously had no issues EXCEPT for my ungrateful zoomer stepson who refuses to engage with it AT ALL even though he knows how important this is to me.
its hard enough getting this kid off one of his X-Box computer games long enough to even come downstairs for dinner, but this year I thought we would be ok as he actually did come down and engage a little bit with some of the airbud themed activities i had planned. HOWEVER it got ugly after we sat down to watch the movies. We had barely even got half way through the third movie 'Air-Bud Seventh Inning Fetch" (1998, 132 minutes) when the disrespectful little SOB get's up to leave. I asked him where he thought he was going and he said he needed to go back on his computer to play forbtnite again!! 8 hours later we are nearly finished on Air-bud Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2010, 136 minutes) and he's still not come back downstairs!
im at my wits end, im basically running a coachella/burning man but for airbud, all for free, and all this kid wants to do is 'hit the dab' and 'twerk' with his friends online (whatever that is?). This kid is nearly 25 years old and that's how he's spending his time?? If this kid doesn't start to turn things around im not afraid to bring some discipline to the hosehold (and i mean physical!!).
Wondering if anyne else has had a similar experience and any advice would be appreciated.
Are the films 'Flubber' (1997, 132 minutes) and 'Requiem for a Dream' (2000, 198 minutes) part of the same cinematic universe?
i'm a massive robbie williams fan and certified Flubber Freak but recently my wife and stepson have been asking to watch some movies other than robie Williams ones which i usually insist on.
As head of the family I reserve the right to determine what does or doesn't get shown in our home, but for some reason this time i agreed (reluctantly!!) to let them pick something to watch on netflix. My stepson chose Requiem for a Dream, and just wow... what a film, very different from Flubber really.
Whilst it's not up there with some of williams best (Doubtfire, RV, Night at the Museum 2) it did leave an uncomfortable feeling for a few days after seeing it, which made me think about Flubber again, how the characters would cope with existing in the RFAD universe.. Weebo, Prof Brainard and the titular Flubster himself.
Curious to know peoples thoughts on a flubster/RFAD crossover, potentially something which could be turned into a franchise like the marvel batman movies or star wars. Is this something that could be pitched to paramunt?
Finally saw 'Michael', some observations from a lifelong MJ fan.
Finally sat down to watch Michael after hearing so much about it on here. Honestly, it was not what I was expecting and I came away pretty disappointed after all the hype.
Firstly I did not buy Travoltas performance as Jacko at all.. It was as if he wasn't even trying to get into the role and was just playing himself. After Saturday Night Fever hes clearly got the dancing skills but his singing voice left a lot to be desired. I dont think there was a single MJ song in the whole film (I dont know if this was a licensing thing like that David Bowie movie from a few years ago?). Also why cast JT when hes not even a black actor?. Someone like Eddie Murphy or Idris elbow would have made a much more convincing Jacko.
Secondly, Bob Hoskins as bubbles the chimp was terrible. Again it was like he wasn't even trying. I thought Robin Williams did a much better job in 'Better Man' (a far better movie IMHO!)
Curious to know people's thoughts on this?
Do we need a separate dedicated group for discussion of the 2004 film "The Shaggy Dog"?
Im a Shaggy Dog Head and a Tim Allen freak. There are a lot of us here on Reddit but every time serious discussion comes up about the Shaggy Dog or one of the other films in the SDCU, the post gets deleted by the mod team. Would people be interested in a separate group for SDCU discussion?
