Does cultural fit actually matter for startup success in India? Researching this—would love input from founders (short survey)

Hey everyone,

Working on my Master's thesis on a question that I think is genuinely underexplored:

Does aligning your product with local cultural values actually improve startup performance—or is good strategy good strategy regardless of culture?

India is a fascinating case study for this—22 official languages, massive regional differences in consumption behavior, the jugaad innovation mindset, and community-based purchasing decisions. A product that works in urban Mumbai might completely flop in rural Bihar.

I'm also looking at how India's institutional ecosystem amplifies—or limits—the impact of entrepreneurial strategy on performance.

If you're a founder or senior manager at an Indian startup, I'd really appreciate your perspective:

Thanks so much 🙏
