I solved 14/14 testcases and got shortlisted for Prime role and recieved interview invite on 27th March 12:15 AM. Interview was scheduled for 28th March 8:30 AM. First of all the reporting time was 8:00 AM at an engineering college at Wagholi. There were around 150+ student packed in a lecture hall. No proper ventilation. A very suffocating place. Regardless the tcs guys came 2 hours after the reporting time around 10:00 AM. HR was very rudely talking to students (Akanksha Jaiswal and her team). Anyways, then we were given assessment sheets mentioning the role we were being interviewed for. Prime candidates got the chance to interview first. We went to interview room. Shockingly most of the students who were currently working and had less then 1 year experience were straight away rejected and told to go home citing the reason that its too soon to switch, stay at your current organisation. Then, I got my interview around 11:00 AM. Some old guy, asked for my introduction. I have 1.5 YOE in Java + React fullstack. Told him that. Then he asked architectural questions about my personal project ( I created a VS Code Extension which had around 500+ downloads) . Answered every single one of them. Then he asked me to implement one of the APIs from my client project on my pen and paper, which i explained him too. Then he started doing something in his laptop and kept my resume aside. Then he started asking questions related to system design.
- what is pessimistic vs optimistic locking and when will you use which.
- Diferent types of microservices...
- saga design pattern
- lets say suddenly 10000 users hit your api how will you scale it without increasing servers
- Differnce b/w abstract factory and protoype design pattern. When will you apply it in your code
- Lets say you had to implement a huge flash sale for an e-commerce platform. What changes would you make for database scaling and API management?
I couldn't answer most of the later questions. Interview ended in around 20-25 mins. Then I was told to wait for MR and HR round.
1 hour later I was told, no further rounds today. I have been rejected and go home.
