What would society look like if legal marriage was based on BFFs, over romantic partners?
I was just thinking about how practical it would be to legally bind yourself to a lifelong friend, over a romantic partner. Lavender marriages are paradoxically rising, as stigmas against same sex marriages decrease. It makes sense, considering modern dating isn’t what it used to be. Without a social pressure from family and institutions to choose a specific kind of partner, what’s stopping us for hacking life with a trusted friend, and romantically exploring free from financial and social expectations?
