Is this open white PVC drain pipe on my furnace broken? (Armstrong Air)

Hey guys,

I noticed this vertical white PVC pipe on the left side of myArmstrong Air furnace. It is completely wide open at the top and looks like a piece is missing or broken off.

There are no active water leaks on the floor when it runs. Is this supposed to be open like this as a vent/air break, or am I missing a cap or an extension? Just want to make sure no exhaust or gases are leaking into the room.

Thanks!

How can I adapt a 3x10 floor vent opening to fit a 4x10 register booster fan?

I recently bought a register vent booster fan that I thought would fit my bedroom floor vent, but after removing the register I discovered the opening is actually 3x10 inches, while the booster fan is designed for a 4x10 opening.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a 3x10 booster fan for sale in Canada. Before I return it, I'm wondering if there's a practical DIY solution.

A few questions:

- Can I enlarge the floor opening from 3x10 to 4x10?

- Are there transition adapters available that would allow a 4x10 booster fan to work on a 3x10 duct?

The vent is located in a bedroom floor
