I believe internet makes us more anxious than we are aware
I developed severe anxiety in 2020 like a lot of others. However, I never really healed from it. I went from being anxious to having panic attacks to having agoraphobia. I've been able to manage it and thankfully I'm still able to drove around and function but still can't travel far.
Every once in awhile I take a break from screens. Only 1 30-45min show a day and nothing else on TV and 0 phone usage outside of texts and calls. The weeks I do tho, I notice I feel soooooo much better. Nothing ground breaking but 0 anxiety doing something out of my agoraphibic comfort area.
I think the main issue wasn't specifically covid, but that I(we) spent do much time on our phones. Doom scrolling, watching death numbers skyrocket on the news, and seeing divided people scream at each other. The only way to cope with this? More screen time, at least for me. It makes me wonder what if I(we) took more time off, like a year. How much less anxious and depressed would we really be? Maybe even be completely free of it?
