Looking to meet people!

Hey everyone! I’m new to Gießen and have just moved here as an international student. I’m enjoying the town so far, quiet and nice, although the cloudy weather is taking some getting used to 😂

Where do people usually go to meet new people here? Any sports clubs, social groups, student events, or fun activities you’d recommend?

I’d also love to explore the town, so if anyone is interested in going for walks or roaming around Gießen, feel free to DM me.

Looking for a walking buddy too! 🚶‍♂️

Any suggestions are welcome! :)

Arriving in Gießen this October, but still homeless 😅

I’m an international student starting my studies in Gießen this October, and I’ve been searching for accommodation for quite some time now, but unfortunately haven’t been able to secure a room yet.
I applied for student dorms back in July and have been on the waiting list ever since. I’ve also contacted and applied to countless WGs, not just with generic messages but with personalized applications, but unfortunately, nothing has worked out so far. Having limited German proficiency has made the search even more difficult.
With my moving date getting closer, I’m honestly getting quite stressed about ending up without a place to stay in a completely new city.
So, if anyone knows of a room with Anmeldung, I would be extremely grateful if you could let me know.
💶 Budget: up to €350–€400 warm all inc.
📅 Move-in: October
📍 Location: Gießen / nearby areas

Part-time jobs in Giessen

Hi everyone! I’m an international student planning to move to Giessen, Germany, for my Master’s.
Everything happened quite quickly, so I unfortunately couldn’t invest as much time as I wanted into learning German before moving. I’m definitely positive about learning the language and plan to work on it once I’m there.
I wanted to ask people living/studying in Giessen: How difficult is it to find a part-time without having a good command of German? Are there reasonable opportunities where English is sufficient?
