About german student life
It might be a stupid question, I'm an exchange student from Turkey (or Türkiye) currently studying in Giessen experiencing their first day in Giessen and I know very few things about german culture. My main concern is that is it safe to drink tap water in my dorm? What are the main things I should know about before doing anything so I don't offend anyone or do something wrong accidentally (Or do something in a complicated way while there's an easier way maybe?). All of these are very new to me and I want to adapt to german culture and german living as soon as possible. Thank you for your answers in advance.
Looking for a room/WG in Gießen
Hi everyone, I’m Sidharth. I recently got admitted to JLU Gießen for my Master’s in Transition Management, and I’ve also received my visa, but unfortunately, I still haven’t been able to find accommodation in Gießen.I’ve been trying really hard to find a place. If anyone knows of a room, WG, or any available accommodation in Gießen, or could connect me with someone who might be able to help, please feel free to reach out. :)
Herbstmesse 2026
Hello, I am an international student in Gießen. Is anyone going to watch fireworks at tonight’s Herbstmesse ? I kinda need a company :)
Looking to meet people!
Hey everyone! I’m new to Gießen and have just moved here as an international student. I’m enjoying the town so far, quiet and nice, although the cloudy weather is taking some getting used to 😂
Where do people usually go to meet new people here? Any sports clubs, social groups, student events, or fun activities you’d recommend?
I’d also love to explore the town, so if anyone is interested in going for walks or roaming around Gießen, feel free to DM me.
Looking for a walking buddy too! 🚶♂️
Any suggestions are welcome! :)
