Just heard about the layoffs of Technical Writers at Snowflake and Amazon, and I was devastated. I recorded my take on this, and here's what the technical writers (including me) can do.

I've spent some time now working as a technical writer and documentation engineer at DevTool companies and agencies. When I heard about the layoffs of technical writers across Snowflake and Amazon, I felt really sad. Also, it had nothing to do with the revenue and all. These teams were doing great as it is.

In fact, while I was recording my observations in an article, I heard about the Cloudflare layoffs too. Damn, that was even shattering.

All this brought insecurity in me about us technical writers in the age of AI, and if such things keep on happening, what should we be doing?

Check out my take on this here and how to be ready for such a situation, and I would want to know your thoughts, too.

Should I relocate to Bangalore despite me having a remote job?

I recently interviewed at a Series F funded DevOps company for a Documentation Engineer role and got selected.

Current situation:

  • Fully remote DevRel role in New Delhi.
  • ~75K/month
  • Family and friends nearby.
  • Extremely comfortable work-life balance
  • Almost 2 years of full-time experience

The new company is offering (22 LPA):

  • 14 LPA fixed
  • 1.4L variable
  • stocks/ESOPs
  • relocation reimbursement up to 2L
  • hybrid setup (3 days WFO in Bangalore)

Initially I was very excited because it’s obviously a big brand. But after thinking deeply about it, I’m leaning towards declining as I don't see a big salary jump.

Main reason is that this role is purely documentation-focused, while my current role is broader DevRel. Plus I’d have to relocate to Bangalore and give up a fully remote lifestyle that I enjoy a lot.

Financially, it’s definitely an upgrade, but once I factor in relocation, lifestyle changes, distance from family, Bangalore costs, commute etc., I’m not fully convinced the deal is worth it right now.

Curious what others here would do in this situation, especially people who’ve moved from remote comfort into Bangalore hybrid roles.

Would you take the offer or stay where you are?

Angular interview prep resource. 60+ questions organized by experience level

I have created this guide for anyone who has an Angular interview coming up. Before writing, I observed that most of the resources covered a listicle kind of thing without proper explanation. So, I thought that a more detailed and on-point resource is needed.

The advanced section covers Signals, Ivy, performance optimization, and state management patterns, which are now common in senior interviews.

You're gonna love this. Do check it out, here.

Living with Miyoshi Muscular Dystrophy

Glad I found this SubReddit. I am currently 25M and was diagnosed with Miyoshi MD in 2022. I noticed at the start that I am not able to run, and people are noticing my waddling gait. With time, I realised that I find it extremely difficult to climb stairs and lose my balance easily. And once I bump into something, my thighs can't support me, and I am bound to fall.

But I'm not giving up, I do things that almost any normal person can, I hit the gym, take care of my body, work, and travel.

My doctors say that the degeneration is very, very slow. And to be honest, in the last three years, I haven't seen the symptoms worsening. They have just been the same.

I just wanted to ask whether there is someone who has ever dealt with this? And do you think that I'll lose my ability to walk as time passes?

How does life look with MMD?
