Like the title says what a difference (to me) in casting bass flys on a 6wt vs a 5wt. I’d loaded up 6wt line but had been using a 5wt rod. I was making do but wanted to at least see if there was a difference so I ordered a new rod to try. HUGE difference!!
Hit the pond again, but decided to try a couple different flys…still dreaming about chasing trout again.
For bodies/stretches of water that require barbless hooks…is pinching down or cutting off the barb classify it now as barbless? I’m in GA but will be traveling to other States as well.

Novice fly fisherman here, after almost a year of researching equipment, lines, flies, waders, vests, etc…I took a trip to North Ga for a few days to try for trout. I booked a trip with Cohutta Fishing Co and they didn’t disappoint!!
The day of our trip we were rained out but rebooked for two days later. They set me up on some public waters to try and gave their recommendations on what to use.
I ended up catching several trout the day before our trip on dries…my first public waters wading trout!
The trip was to some private creeks they have access to and the fishing was amazing!! A 24” Brown and a 25.5” Rainbow topped the outing!! Anyone looking for a good trip give them a call and ask to fish with Matt. He bumped my learning curve by a couple of years.
