BIOL 1500H: In-person vs Online

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide between taking BIOL 1500H online or the in-person version (lectures + seminars + labs), and I have a few questions.

  1. If my program/course requirements simply say BIOL 1500H, does that mean both the online and in-person versions satisfy the requirement equally? There's no difference in credit or recognition, right?
  2. For those who have taken either version (or both):
    • Which one did you find more effective for learning?
    • Which one was easier to keep up with?
    • How difficult were the quizzes, tests, and exams?
    • Did you feel the online assessments were harder, easier, or about the same as the in-person version?
  3. In your opinion, which format gives students a better chance of earning a high grade? Why?
  4. I also noticed that almost all of the in-person sections are already nearly full. Is there a reason so many students prefer taking it in person? Is the learning experience significantly better, or is it just personal preference?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences before I make my decision. Thanks!

First Year- Self Service/ Course Registration

hi! I just wonder if everyone in the first year can get access to Self Service or Course Registration yet? My portal doesn't have Course Registration or Self Service icons, either in the Register or Academic Tabs. Is it only mine, or does everyone else have the same issue? I'm so confused right now. Pls help me!!!

Regular Suite Double Residence at Trent

Hi everyone,

I’ll be starting the Nursing program at Trent this September, and my residence room selection date is coming up soon. I’m planning to choose a Regular Suite Double, but I’m still deciding between the colleges.

My main priority is the washroom arrangement. I’m okay with sharing a washroom, but I would strongly prefer to share it with female students only, ideally in an all-female suite if possible.

Distance is also important to me, especially since I’ll be in Nursing. From what I’ve heard, Otonabee may be the closest option for Nursing students. I’m also considering Champlain and Lady Eaton, but I’m wondering which one is farther. Is the walking distance from Champlain or Lady Eaton to the Nursing/science buildings manageable? If it’s under around 10 minutes, I’m totally okay with that.

I’d really appreciate any advice from current students, especially anyone who has lived in a Regular Suite Double at Otonabee, Champlain, or Lady Eaton.

Thank you!
