Which makes more money

Fundamentalism or Democracy

I want to earn as much money as possible so i can buy cities (my first game using this strat) and currently im under democracy. Im earning 3000 gold coins and loose 500 in maintnace and i want to buy 10 japanese cities on my continent. I dont care about tech because my neighbour is under fundy so his science is really slow so i put my science to 0. Should i switch to fundamentalism or democracy (i dont want any wars tho because the japanese have a trillion forces on their land)

Is it time for democracy?

I am playing the snes civ 1 port and i am on an island with no other nation i got 2 big town with 1 military unit and 2 small town and for now there are no enemies but the game keeps saying that china and greece keep destroying other nations and i am scared because they might cause a war that will need military. Is it time for democracy or should i still keep republic?
