Does anyone else wish IWC would stop numbering the Mark series?
This might be a dumb nitpick, but does anyone else feel like the “Mark” numbering (Mark XVII, XVIII, XX, etc.) makes the watch feel a little too much like a product that needs a new number every few years?
I almost wish IWC would just call it the Mark and let the reference number differentiate the generations, similar to how Rolex handles the Explorer. The design could evolve over time without the watch itself needing a new number.
For some reason, the numbering reminds me a little of how Apple releases a new iPhone number every few years — iPhone 15, 16, 17, etc. It makes the watch feel more like a continually updated product rather than a timeless model.
Curious if anyone else feels this way, or if you actually like the Mark numbering and think it adds to the identity of the watch?
