Late night Whole Foods run the missus and Mark.
This might be a dumb nitpick, but does anyone else feel like the “Mark” numbering (Mark XVII, XVIII, XX, etc.) makes the watch feel a little too much like a product that needs a new number every few years?
I almost wish IWC would just call it the Mark and let the reference number differentiate the generations, similar to how Rolex handles the Explorer. The design could evolve over time without the watch itself needing a new number.
For some reason, the numbering reminds me a little of how Apple releases a new iPhone number every few years — iPhone 15, 16, 17, etc. It makes the watch feel more like a continually updated product rather than a timeless model.
Curious if anyone else feels this way, or if you actually like the Mark numbering and think it adds to the identity of the watch?
Hello again. If you have read my post a few days ago about the 12 o clock batons misalignment, i am here again with the same watch and another very serious broken link on the bracelet. Since the misalignment of the 12oclock , i never wear the watch and wait for the IWC boutique to answer me. Today i found this broken link on the bracelet. This is very unacceptable mistake from IWC. Of course i have informed the boutique about this. Again the brand IWC is very disappointing ! 2 big mistakes in one product ! Very poor service of Viet Nam IWC boutique!
I did quite a bit of reading and researching about the Mark XX, and I had some time today, so I've decided to go to my local IWC boutique to see it in the metal. They had the blue and black dial version on display, and when I asked about the white, the SA told me that it has been discontinued, and after some looking online, he said no stores in Europe are carrying it anymore. As I was about to leave, he said to give him a moment, he went back to the back of the store and came back with a white Mark XX on a leather strap. He said, "I could have that with the metal bracelet if I wanted to" (kind of makes me question the "no pieces in Europe" statement he made earlier, it's not that I needed convincing).
It immediately clicked with me, and I got it with the bracelet. I'm super stoked, it's really such a nice watch, and the bracelet is really something else when it comes to comfort and adjustability!
Also, as I got it from the boutique, we registered the watch for the eight-year warranty, which is quite generous...
If one watch collection is possible, I think this might be that watch for me!
When I got home, I re-added the extra link that they took out in the shop and checked the movement performance with a timegrapher, and I'm super happy to see that in the dial-up position, it performs really well!
The Mark XX is really a great piece, just get it if you've been on the fence!
P.S: timegrapher is https://apps.apple.com/app/id6759264433
For some reason, in photos it looks kind of bulky on most people. I was looking for a refined and slik integrated watch and was putting it as one of my options. My wrist size is about 6.8-7".
Hey everyone, picked this up recently in a flee market and I’m curious what I actually have here. It’s got “International Watch Co” written on the dial and “International W.W.W.” stamped on the caseback, along with some numbers (see pic). Black dial, Arabic numerals, red seconds hand, fixed strap bars, and there’s a little circle with a “T” on the dial too.
Never really gotten into vintage watches before so I have no clue if this is something special or just an old beater. Anyone able to tell me more about it — age, what “W.W.W.” means, or roughly what something like this might be worth? Any info appreciated, thanks!
[IWC Yacht Club II Ref. 9709] Rare full 18k gold “Jumbo” from 1980 – Value estimate?
I recently inherited this IWC Yacht Club II “Jumbo”, Ref. 9709, dating from around 1980, and I’m trying to get a better understanding of its current market value.
It is the full 18k gold version with the integrated gold bracelet. From my research, this particular reference and configuration seems to be quite rare, with very few comparable examples appearing online, which makes it difficult to determine a realistic valuation.
I’d be very interested to hear from IWC collectors or anyone familiar with vintage Yacht Club II models.
What would you consider a realistic market value range for an example like this today? Are there any specific details about the Ref. 9709 that have a particularly large impact on value?
I’ve included several detailed photos. Any information or comparable sales would be greatly appreciated.
I had them swap to the brown alligator in the store, but I plan on ordering a charcoal Badalassi Pueblo Leather strap for it so it leans more "tool watch" on most days.
I was at an AD trying on the 35mm Ingenieur this weekend and he told me IWC is coming out with a 38mm version soon. Has anyone else heard this or is he full of it?
Seems to be a thing to post a pic…. Really quite pleased with this…
First IWC! I had been debating which pilot watch from their lineup to get and was set on getting either a black Mark XX, Spitfire or the Antoine de Saint Exupery edition XVIII, but due to a very good price I ended up with the Spitfire. I had been somewhat scared into thinking the IWC movements were a bit of a dog based on some of the comments I’ve read but this is over 7 years old and only gaining 2 seconds a day - so very impressed so far
Found this vintage IWC Shaffhausen in Japan and fell in love. Even more every day!
Really enjoyed rocking the Mark XX throughout my whole Norway trip, definitely matched the hues of the scenery. Outstanding piece.
