I haven’t been into the holy trinity, until today…
So people have been telling me to get something from the big 3 after seeing my collection.
I never got into AP. I kind of dig the Patek Travel Time, but never at retail and have no interest in an Aquanaut.
VC has always been a bit boring to me (sorry) at that price point and I never really felt would diversify my collection enough. That was until I saw the Overseas Dual Time.
I still have some hesitation with that price point for a titanium watch but the design language is great. I also know nothing about the VC purchase experience. Is this something that will hold value and be relatively easy to acquire, or is it like the Patek, that’s a ladder piece and would be better getting on the grey market?
Open to any and all advice/info.
SOTC. This year I’ve focused on adding pieces from other brands and it’s been a lot of fun!
Thank you all for your support on buying my first IWC yesterday! Made a couple of purchases today.
Tried on the new Solargraph and a plum Carerra today.
I originally wanted the Mercedes Pilot but realized as much as I love the color, the Top Gun edition offers more flexibility with various straps. Also got to try on the Ingenieur. Absolutely love the dial but not sure I want another stainless piece at this time.
Also got to check out the George Russel blue edition of the pilot. Gorgeous color but I feel like it dates itself and I don't like watches that do that.
Call me crazy, but I think this is a beautiful piece. I actually like it better than the Aquanaut and I'm thinking of buying my first Patek after years of collecting Rolex and Omega.
I have a significant spend at my Rolex AD, who also carries Patek, so I'm wondering if you think this would be a good step into Patek. It may be my one and done and I'm considering downsizing my collection to pay for it.
