Battle of Chronographs: My new Panda vs my OG Omega Speedmaster, initial impression!

Had no time for AD games so went grey for an unused/new Panda. Have been wearing speedy as daily for a year now.
My initial impressions >
Both are beautiful timepieces
Daytona wears a little smaller
I like the bracelet on speedy better
The open caseback of speedmaster is an eye candy
Speedy has more tool watch feel and Daytona has jewelry like vibe
I do enjoy manual wind of Speedmaster every morning still, but looking forward to not having to wind with Daytona
Both are very comparable in quality. Love them both !

Never thought I would own a Daytona

Never thought I’d own a Daytona, but here we are. I recently picked up this black dial 116500LN after admiring the Daytona from afar for a long time.

I know these get a ton of attention and hype, but what surprised me most in person is how balanced it feels. The proportions are great, the dial has a lot going on but doesn't feel busy, and it wears much more naturally than I expected due to the thin case.

Still feels a little ridiculous seeing it on my wrist, but I’m very excited to finally own one!

Picked up my Explorer today

Hey everyone, just wanted to share a quick bit of joy with you all. Today was the day: I picked up my new 40mm Explorer!

The whole AD experience was top-notch. Picking up a watch is always special, but I was genuinely hyped today. My wife and I had a great chat with our SAs, and the moment they brought out the watch was just awesome. I was grinning like a little kid, and honestly, the smile’s not going away anytime soon.

New watch day

Just picked up at the AD!

I bought a Datejust 41, blue, fluted on oyster in 2021 on a walk in. I manifested interest on a Batgirl at the time but I was told that it would be almost impossible.

I forgot about buying a Rolex for a few years but kept visiting the AD. It's closeby and the SA is a very cool guy who shares my passion for watches, scuba diving, etc... Three months ago i asked about a Sub and now here it is!

First Rolex - Walk in Boutique Purchase

What more is there to say? Finally achieved one of my goals. I now understand the brand hype (to a certain extent). I also see that Rolex replicas, no matter how good, will never be an actual Rolex. Love this thing

Baby number three and got my grail watch!

I have an excellent relationship with my AD. When I found out I was having my 3rd child I asked for a Daytona, I said I wanted it by August 31 which is the due date. Got the call before baby girl is born :)

Side note for my first born I got a Starbucks, second I got a Sprite and now this.

Got the call…first world problems edition.

Since the Panda came through I’ve been telling anyone who’d listen: no more watches. Done. Collection complete. Then the AD calls: 127334 is in, one hour to pass or pay.
Minor issue: I’m on a rooftop in Valencia, a few thousand miles and an ocean away, mid-cigar, celebrating beating cancer with a bottle of water like a responsible adult.
So yes, the guy humble bragging and bitching about aforementioned problem is me. Like a good patron, I wired for it from the roof. It’ll be waiting when I land. Le sigh…

“No more watches” lasted less time than the cigar 🙄🙄

PS: pic on the SA hand 🫠

PPS: three hours before the call I was at an AD here in Valencia trying on watches. Every decent gold config sitting in the case, white gold Daytona included. Guy next to me walked out with a Pikachu. No idea what his spend was, but respect.

[Rolex GMT-Master II 126711CHNR] Finally, my dream watch

This one has a bit of a story behind it.
A few months after buying my first Rolex in 2021, an Explorer 36, I stopped by the AD to thank the VIP customer manager who had helped make sure the Explorer was ready in time for my wedding. I had originally requested it about six months earlier, so having it there for such an important moment meant a lot to me.

We sat down for a coffee and, during the conversation, he casually asked me:
“So, what’s your dream watch?”
Without hesitation: “The Root Beer.”
That was it. Just a conversation.
About two months later my phone rang.
“I have your dream watch ready for you.”
:-O

And that’s how I finally ended up with the watch I had admired for years, the Rolex GMT-Master II 126711CHNR “Root Beer.”
It combines Oystersteel and Everose gold with the black and brown Cerachrom bezel, and inside is Rolex’s automatic calibre 3285, with approximately 70 hours of power reserve and an independently adjustable local hour hand.

There are watches you buy because you like them, and then there are watches that somehow become part of your own story.
This one definitely belongs to the second category.

First Rolex!

Happy to say that I was one of those rare stories that could walk into an AD with no previous purchase history and get this gorgeous Datejust.

If I lived in a different city, this would be my GADA watch.

Hawaii trip averted

Posted long time ago about AD in HI making offer for watch but needing to travel there to pick up. Skipped the trip. Kid was born. Friend came through with our local AD and surprised me with this “gift” over the weekend.

Vintage, Neo Vintage or Modern?

Left to right - 1680, 16610 or 124060?

Which one would be your keeper?

Explorer on Fuji

It’s not Everest, but I was able to take the Explorer to the top of Mt Fuji (the stone is showing the shrine at the top)
