Going rafting for the first time in Colorado— but I won’t be able to get to Colorado until July 17th. Are my plans ruined for rafting?

As the title says, I plan on taking a trip to Colorado- including Denver and RMNP/Estes for the first time. Near Idaho springs me and my friend wanted to do the Clear Creek intermediate rafting tour, and were pleased that it’s not too far from Denver. However I heard that around July water levels become low (dependent on the snow) and that the rafting may be unpleasant at clear creek. I called many of the touring places and they said most likely due to low water levels they won’t cancel the trip but they will place us on an advanced route to get the full experience. I just want to know if this is okay for a first time rafter and would be a fun/ splashy/ exciting experience.
Some have recommended Royal Gorge as it is more predictable in terms of water levels.
Just want to know your guys thoughts or any alternatives for those staying in Denver?
