🚨 Help Needed for Evacuated Animals 🚨
I'm part of the team coordinating the animal evacuation efforts at the Murillo Fair Grounds through the Oliver Agricultural Society. This is a joint community effort involving the Thunder Bay Community Pasture, Oliver Agricultural Society, Hymers Agricultural Society, and FAN-NWO to support families and farmers impacted by the wildfires.
We are looking for large dog run panels/kennels, the frames/skeletons, or even portable carports that we can convert into secure outdoor enclosures for evacuated chickens and ducks affected by the forest fires.
The enclosures will be set up on grass, so we're looking for larger runs or panels that can be connected together, as we have a large number of chickens and ducks needing safe temporary housing. If the structures are sturdy enough, we may also use some for a family of goats.
We are also looking for:
• Small shelters, dog houses, hutches, or other structures that can be placed inside the enclosures to provide nighttime shelter.
• Wire for outside of shelter (not chicken wire) no bigger then 3x3 holes, the smaller the better.
• Tarp or Metal roofing for the top
• Extra feeders, waterers, buckets, or other livestock supplies that can be cleaned, disinfected, and safely reused.
If you have anything you could donate or are willing to lend at a very low cost, we would be incredibly grateful. If you'd like your larger structures returned once they are no longer needed, we are more than happy to arrange that.
We kindly ask that any donated or loaned items be in safe, usable condition and ready to set up. With so many animals to care for and limited time and volunteers, we're unfortunately unable to repair or dispose of damaged items.
Every donation helps us provide safe, secure housing for these evacuated animals during this difficult time.
Please send me a private message if you have anything available, and I'll provide the drop-off location and any additional details.
Thank you so much for supporting our community and helping care for these animals. ❤️
