Re: Warning to Women of Thunder Bay Post

Hey everyone,

I wanted to start a new post to refocus after yesterday's post blew up. On the suggestion of a couple people who confirmed seeing the perpetrator, I'd like to ask if anyone who was in the area of Trowbridge, Centennial or Boulevard Lake had a GoPro running between 1 and 230 yesterday. Also, if anyone who was in the Trowbridge parking lot around those times has dashcam footage, that might also be useful.

Description: white male, approximately 6 feet tall, dark hair, unkempt, dark shorts, hat (possibly white and red), sunglasses. He was wearing a white shirt which he later took off and stowed in his waistband. We believe he was riding a bicycle (possibly red and black) which was a little undersized and he was not wearing a helmet.

Recap: this guy is a sexual predator who was watching me suntan and was masturbating at Trowbridge near Soldier's Hole.

Thanks to everyone who viewed, commented and offered support!

As we head into another week, here's a gentle reminder that accepting help is not a sign of weakness. It's one of the things that makes us human.

Many of us find it much easier to help than to be helped.
We'll happily drive a friend to an appointment, bring someone a meal, lend an ear, or drop everything for a loved one who needs us. It feels natural to give. But when the roles are reversed, something changes.

We tell ourselves:
'I don't want to bother anyone."
"They have enough on their plate."
"I'll figure it out myself."
'I don't want to owe anyone."

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that needing help meant we had failed. It doesn't. The truth is, when we allow someone to help us, we're giving them a gift too.

Helping another person gives us a sense of purpose. It reminds us that we matter, that we can make a difference, that our presence has value. Think about how good it feels when you've been able to comfort a friend, support a neighbour, or simply make someone's difficult day a little easier.

Why would we want to deny someone else the opportunity to experience that same feeling? Community was never meant to be one-sided.

Sometimes we're the ones offering support. Other times, we're the ones who need it. Neither role makes us any less valuable. In fact, allowing others to help us strengthens the bonds that hold communities together.

So if someone offers you a hand this week, consider accepting it with gratitude instead of guilt. You don't have to earn kindness, and you don't have to repay every act of generosity. Sometimes the greatest gift you can give someone is allowing them the opportunity to make a difference in your life.

Wishing everyone a week filled with compassion, humility, and the reminder that we're not meant to carry life's burdens alone. Strong communities are built not just by people who are willing to help, but also by people who are willing to accept it.

Has anyone else noticed supermarkets being really low on stock (and looking dirty) lately? (Metro Arthur St / Superstore)

Hey everyone,

I was out doing groceries recently and noticed that the shelves are looking surprisingly bare. I went to the Metro on Arthur St and the Real Canadian Superstore, and both had lots of aisles with huge gaps and very low merchandise.

On top of the empty shelves, I noticed they have been looking really dirty lately. It honestly looks like they haven't cleaned their floors in weeks. I totally understand floors getting messy during the winter or on rainy days, but with neither of those happening right now, it just felt really off.

Between the empty aisles and the lack of cleaning, it gave me a flashback to the pandemic shortages, or looked like when a store is having a major logistics issue (or getting ready to close up).

Has anyone else noticed this around town lately? Does anyone know if there’s a specific reason—like a strike, staffing shortage, or supply chain problem—going on right now?

TL;DR: Metro on Arthur and the Superstore both have tons of empty shelves and really dirty floors right now. Does anyone know if there is a supply chain issue or something else going on locally?

Free little library with newer books

Hey, can anyone recommend a good free little library with books from this century? I have put many books into the closet one in my neighborhood, but now it's mostly my old books and some old romance novels. I would add books to it and not just take them.

Also etiquette question if you see a book that has been in one for several months if it ok to make it disappear? I unashamedly remove old medical and diet books already. No one needs cancer-free diet books from 1983.

Wake the Giant and Flo Rida

I'm disappointed Wake the Giant has continued to keep Flo Rida on lineup this year. He recently was the only artist to remain on the lineup and play at Trumps 250 Freedom Festival. Wake the Giant seems focused on diversity and inclusion of all people. I get the opposite sense now when I see Flo Ride associated with the festival.

The other kicker is I mentioned my displeasure on a Wake the Giant instagram post, and the organization deleted my comment. Nice.

Best beaches in or around town for a summer beach day? (Sandy or Pebble!)

Hey everyone,

With the summer weather in full swing, I’m looking for recommendations for the best beaches in or around Thunder Bay.

Ideally, I’m looking for a spot with nice, clean, clear water and a good sandy beach for a classic beach day. That being said, I know Lake Superior has some beautiful pebble beaches as well, so I’m totally open to hearing about your favorite rocky spots too.

Where is your go-to spot to spend a sunny day by the water? I don't mind a bit of a drive if the water is clear and the spot is worth it!

TL;DR: Looking for the best clear-water beaches in or near Thunder Bay to spend a summer day—open to both sandy and pebble beaches!

Probably wrong spot to post this but maybe someone could help.

Have a scrap snowmachine sitting on my truck right now. Blown cylinder. Not looking for money, just a place to drop it. '93 Yamaha Enticer. Could be a project machine, if someone knew what they were doing. Tks

Warning to Women of Thunder Bay

Today at 130pm at Trowbridge I was suntanning alone on the rocks just up from Soldier's Hole, closer to the trailhead. I noticed a male scoping out the area where people cliff jump at Soldier's Hole. Moments later he had come down the rocks and was standing about 10 feet away from me, concealing himself around the corner of a rock face. I decided to look to see what he was up to in order to be aware of my surroundings because he was peeking at me. He was watching me and masturbating. When I looked at him he continued to masturbate. I screamed and he still didn't move until I ran back to my bag and set off a portable emergency alarm which I have carried with me since I read about the attack at Boulevard Lake. I flagged down a group of women who had just come down to the rocks and asked them if they would walk back to the park with me. They mentioned seeing a red and black bike in the bushes at the top of the trail which he may have been riding.

Description: white male, about 6 feet tall', 35ish years old, slim build, white shirt, dark coloured shorts, possibly a white and red hat and sunglasses.

EDIT: This was already reported to the police. Didn't feel a need to mention.

Tree dieback

Is it just me or do the local trees look sickly.

Drove from PA to the border today and saw many leafless deciduous trees. And all of the spruce down to the border look brown and dry.

All around Boulevard as well, you can see through the trees and see the lake.

And not sure if it was just my eyes, but around Loch ski hill, from a distance anyway, things looked pretty bare.

I also golfed at Chapples last week and half of their trees are also dead.

Any foresters want to chime in?

Canada Day Assault

The assault occurred in immediate vicinity of two homeless cams… I wonder if there was a connection… Prayers to the victim and his family.

Any fellow gays that golf? ⛳️

Hello to all the Thunder Baes out there!

Checking to see if there are any other gay guys or LGBTQIA+ community members out there that are interested in going out for a round or two of golf over the summer. Newish to the queer community in TBay and thought it would be a good opportunity to find some community, make some friends and share in my passion for the sport.

I’m no tour pro, but it’s nice to get out for a good time, reach out if interested, thanks!

Does anyone have details? Or is this bullshit ?

Just curious if this is an actually incident or just fake news. Haven’t seen anything posted online about it.
