Special Constable In Around Community

Just curious as I have seen with the police the full Special Constable police vehicle out and about in around the city. Seen the officers doing calls as well it seems?

I thought Special Constable was only with the court house? or is this happening due to a shortage of regular officers?

I know the duties are a little restrictive vs the regular constable, but what is the reason ?

Why Ring of Fire is a Bad Idea That Needs to Be Stopped

The Ring of Fire is often presented as an enormous economic opportunity for Ontario, but there is another side to this story that deserves far more attention. The proposed development of the Ring of Fire would bring roads, mines and industrial activity into one of the most environmentally sensitive regions of Ontario. The Webequie Supply Road alone is proposed to stretch approximately 107 kilometres into the Ring of Fire area.

The environmental risks should not be treated as an inconvenience standing in the way of development. The James Bay Lowlands contain vast peatlands and wetlands that store enormous amounts of carbon and support wildlife, waterways and Indigenous communities. Once major roads and industrial development fragment this landscape, the damage may not be easily reversed. The question should not simply be, "How quickly can we get the resources out?" It should be, "What will we permanently lose by doing it?"

There is also a fundamental issue involving Indigenous and treaty rights. Section 35 of Canada's Constitution protects Aboriginal and treaty rights, and governments have a duty to consult where projects could adversely affect those rights. Consultation should mean meaningful participation and respect for Indigenous communities—not simply finding a way through the legal process after decisions have effectively already been made.

What is particularly troubling is the political push to accelerate development. Ontario and Canada have already announced a "one project, one process, one decision" approach intended to reduce duplication and speed up major resource projects. Speed may be good for corporations and investors, but environmental protection, treaty rights and the long-term interests of northern communities should never be treated as bureaucratic obstacles.

There is also an uncomfortable reality about who ultimately benefits from these resources. Governments around the world, including the United States, want secure access to critical minerals. Corporations want profitable deposits. Investors want returns. Governments want economic growth. Everyone has an incentive to extract as much as possible, as quickly as possible. But the people who will live with the environmental consequences for generations are not necessarily the same people who will receive the largest financial rewards.

This is why the Ring of Fire should not be treated as an inevitable race to extract resources. The fact that minerals are valuable does not automatically mean that every deposit must be developed. Ontario has spent generations treating natural resources primarily as commodities to be extracted, sold and converted into economic growth. We need to start asking whether that model is still good enough.

The environment is not an unlimited bank account, and northern Ontario is not an empty piece of land waiting to be bulldozed. Indigenous rights are not optional. Environmental assessments are not obstacles to be eliminated. And economic development should not mean governments bending rules whenever powerful corporations want access to resources.

The real question should be: Who is this development ultimately for?

If the answer is primarily corporations, investors and governments looking for revenue, then we need to stop and rethink the entire approach. If development ever proceeds, it should happen only under conditions that genuinely protect the environment, respect Indigenous rights and ensure that the people of northern Ontario receive lasting benefits.

It is time to stop measuring progress by how quickly we can dig something out of the ground. It is time to think about what we leave behind.

Ontario needs a vision that puts people, communities, Indigenous rights and the environment ahead of corporate enrichment. The Ring of Fire should not become another example of short-term greed winning over long-term responsibility. We have the opportunity to choose a different path—and it is time to choose one that serves people rather than corporations.

We All Need To Run Shirtless - Your Thoughts?

Running shirtless is something I think more men should feel comfortable embracing, especially on hot summer days. For me, it's about freedom, comfort, and enjoying the run—not making a statement beyond that.

How does everyone else feel about it? Do you enjoy running shirtless? Do you find it motivating to see other runners doing the same and feeling confident? Or do you prefer to keep a shirt on? I'd be interested to hear different perspectives.

Personally, I don't identify people by their sexual orientation, and I don't see the human body as something that should automatically be sexualized. A body is simply a body. I think everyone should be able to embrace the feeling and appearance of being shirtless, regardless of who they are, without unnecessary judgment. Confidence, respect, and enjoying the outdoors are what matter most.

I will just say who else enjoys this, has the confidence regardless of your body type and runs. or do you just like shirtless or anything else less as it is?

what are your thoughts and feelings?
