What is the "handling fee"?

I had an international parcel that arrived last week. The value of the item is around $87. After the parcel was presented to the CBSA for inspection, it was released to Canada Post for delivery on the same day. On the notice dropped off by CP, there is a fee of ~$20 that I would have to pay. According to the breakdown of the fee, around $10 of the total amount belongs to a "handling fee". What is the handling fee going towards, CP or CBSA? If CP is getting that $10, what did CP do to claim that $10?

It's time Amazon played by the same rules as everyone else

Injury

I have an overuse injury that flared up on Monday and got significantly worse yesterday. I didn’t file an injury form because I didn’t just trip and hurt myself I was walking throughout the day and my thigh started hurting and once my day was done I was in crazy pain.

I’m making a drs appt for as soon as I can and am going to see my osteo asap. But im wondering if I could get this covered by cnesst and since I’ve worked two days on it trying to push through if I can even get cnesst at this point?

Can a package be processed and delivered on the same day?

I have a package from Toronto going to a friend in Barrie. It arrived at the post office today at 1pm but had yet to be processed. What are the chances it’ll be processed and delivered tomorrow like the website estimates?

Edit: thank you all for your comments, it’s arrived in Barrie today!

PDTs down again

The corp needs to get their IT system in order. Two weeks ago the whole system went down and we had to do everything by paper. Today mid way through my shift the pdt locked me out and when I called in my supervisor said it was system wide (not sure if just my city or national) but two malfunctions within this short time system isn’t just a bug.

Relative sending a small envelope to Canada from Germany, being returned.

My cousin sent a small envelope from Germany to Canada through DHL. He saw that it got to Canada about a week and a half ago, so we were awaiting someone coming and needing a signature, or getting a notice in the mail, to pick up and sign. He just looked up the tracking again, it says it couldn't be delivered and is going back to Germany. What the heck. Address was fine.

Ordered something off ebay from a different country. It was given to Canada Post to deliver once it got here. Canada post delivered it to the wrong address and someone without my initials signed for it and took it. What can I do?

I ordered something off ebay and it was set to be delivered this past Friday. I got notification that it was delivered. I get home, go check my box, nothing. No notice on my door. My doorbell cam had no videos of anyone coming by. There was nobody at my residence the entire day. I've bought off ebay many times before and have never had an issue with the shipping address.

I check Canada posts website, and the package was signed for by someone with not my initials and was marked delivered. The package came from a different country and was given over to Canada Post so I can't open a ticket for it.

What are my options? Is there anything I can do? I'm pretty upset as this was supposed to be a gift for a family member and now it's been essentially stolen. I appreciate any help on this.

Petite question pour Aide Occasionnelle

Bonjour!

"Expected delivery: today by the end of day" but last update showed my mail at a different province???

I'm new to reddit so please bear with me.

On August 12th I paid for an Xpresspost delivery service of a very important document. It was sent from North Sydney (NS) to Guelph (ON).

My first update was that it was processed in Kitchener (ON) on the 14th, and on that same day I got another update saying that it was processed in Stoney Creek (ON).

Fast forward to today, August 17th, I check and I see my last update was that it was processed in Halifax (NS) ???
I'm so confused as to why it came back to Nova Scotia when it was supposed to be delivered in Ontario, and it's even more confusing when the tracking status shows that the expected delivery is today by the end of day, and I also don't have a message or anything that might indicate that my mail is being returned to sender.

Has someone experienced something like this? Or has any suggestions on what to do? I'm desperate as this document is very important for my college admission.

Temp - Should I let them terminate me?

Hey ya'll.

I was hired as a temp in 2024. I got a new job at the end of 2025 and haven't accepted a call since November 2025. I still get calls to this day. The most recent call finally mentioned my lack of shifts the past year and that I would be terminated automatically if I haven't accepted a shift at the 1 year mark of my last shift.

Would me accepting even just 1 shift extend my employment by another year? I'm not necessarily close to the top of the seniority list, but it is a nice backup if I need it.

Also, would me being terminated affect my back pay at all with the new contract?

What would you do in my situation?

Please help! 3 (possibly 5) packages in limbo. What could be the problem?

Hi everyone,
I am at a loss and I’m trying to understand what is happening. On August 13th, I had 3 packages out for delivery. One originated from Vancouver, one from Kelowna, and one from St. Albert (suburb of Edmonton). I am in Edmonton. The packages all have a value of over $500 and they’re all from different stores. They were all out for delivery at 11:35am. I was immediately a bit concerned because my usual Canada Post carrier comes by around noon. As expected, the packages didn’t show up on the 13th, and were all “rescheduled for delivery next business day” around 7:20pm. The next day comes along (the 14th) and I don’t see any new scans until 6:45pm, when they once again say “rescheduled for next business day”. So after the weekend, it is now Monday, and the packages still haven’t moved. There have been no new scans or any updates. I do have two other packages “out for delivery” today, but they went out around 10:30am and once again, my usual carrier has already come by, and none of my packages are here. I did create tickets for these packages and have spoken to a few different customer service agents, but no one has had any answers for me. What could be going on? I live in a condo building, in central Edmonton and until the last month I have never had any issues with Canada Post deliveries. But the last month or two, I had delays with every package, as did my mom who lives in the same area. I know I have to wait for the tickets to be resolved but I’m just so baffled by the situation. Any insight is welcomed.
Thanks!

Looking for Insole Recommendations

Looking for insole recommendations. I don't have benefits and can't afford to get orthotics without them, though that is #1 on my list of things I want to get. I am cycling through a couple pairs of shoes already and struggling with blisters. I have already had my foot sized at an orthopedics place and making sure to follow their suggestions for finding a shoe that is the right fit, also purchased a pair of shoes I tried on in store with their help, but I still need some relief until my feet build up better callouses with all of the walking. Thanks in advance!

Canada Post lost my 500 dollar item

So I have a community mailbox and it appears the mail carrier put my package in the wrong box. Whoever’s box they put it in took my package and it’s missing. Went into the post office today and the confirmed with the driver that it is in none of the other boxes in my community mailbox.

Am I just screwed? This was an expensive guitar pedal bought off reverb. Looks like seller did not pay for any insurance on the item with CanadaPost.

I’ve already started a service ticket with CP but it’s been days and I haven’t heard anything.

Pretty bummed right now and out 500 bucks

4 items saying "delivered" but never received them.

All my mail goes to the post office directly, never my house or a community mail box that is outside. I have FOUR items that all say they are delivered but there has never been a card in my mailbox to go get the items from the front desk.

Ive asked the two other people in my household (my mom and dad lol) if they might have picked any of the packages up and they are both completely certain they have not.

What can I do??

EDIT: I've gone to the post office already and asked about them and nothing was done. They checked one of the tracking numbers and told me it says its been delivered there at that post office and did nothing else other than try to tell me the item mustve been picked up then and misplaced or lost.

They did not go check for it or give me any information or help on what to do about this situation. If they had then obviously I wouldn't have made this post.

On call - Shoe allowance?

Hi everyone!
I am in the final steps of applying for a position as a letter carrier. I know there are no benefits until you get a permanent position. Just wondering, does that include a shoe allowance?

I’ve read a lot of posts about needing new shoes every 2 to 3 months, if that is out-of-pocket, I would like to start looking for some sale pairs to start out.

Also, assuming as on call, we don’t get anything else? I know the uniform isn’t until 480 hours worked.

Can PO Managers make up/add new rules or requirements to get a prime mode box?

Hello.

Posting this on behalf of a colleague who recently made a move from another community.

I live in remote northern Canada. I recently moved from one remote community to another.

My new community, like my previous community, uses PO Boxes only for mail and as a result everyone gets a free prime mode box. There is quite literally no other way to receive mail.

My new post office manager is saying she can’t give me a prime mode box until I’ve lived in this new community for 8 months. Excuse me? I just gave up my previous prime mode box since I left, and now you’re telling me I simply can’t have one because of some rule you’re deciding on right now? FWIW, she has over 40* boxes available, and I have all ID and residency stuff and also just moved from another part of the territory.

Also, she rejects all general delivery mail, making me quite literally have no remaining option for receiving mail.

What the actual fuck?

Thanks for any clarification or if you could just let me know if she’s full of actual shit?

She has no problem selling me one.

I work for a psac employer and fully support cpc employees and would never disrespect this person or disclose where, but it’s really frustrating. I deal with the public too. I know it’s annoying. But I don’t make up rules when I have a bad day just to ruin somebody else’s.
