Mail not picked up now missing
Earlier this year I was in Ottawa training for a job where I would be traveling up north for a few weeks. I didn't want to bring too many extra items with me, so I shipped a medium sized box with some of my favourite clothes, makeup, etc., back to my apartment in Mississauga. I've done this two years in a row and the boxes have always arrived and been there when I am back home. I shipped the box on July 3 and got back home around August 10th. There was a delivery notice card left in my room (a family member placed it there) and I noticed it was way past the pick-up deadline.
I do admit it was completely my fault for not checking the tracking number while I was traveling. I foolishly assumed my box would be waiting at home like in previous years. When I finally looked at the tracking page, it said "Item cannot be delivered; more details to be provided." The chatbot on the tracking page said I would need to wait for it to update to say "Item in secure facility; please contact customer service" before I could pick it up again (and that this could take a few weeks). I waited for a whole month of constantly refreshing the tracking page with no update. I contacted customer service on September 9 and they opened a service ticket for my missing package. It said the expected resolution date is October 2 and I would be contacted when the issue is resolved. I haven't heard anything yet and I am becoming very worried. I saw on the FAQ page that sometimes undeliverable mail is opened and sold or destroyed if it's not valuable.
Is my package sitting in a warehouse somewhere, or is it lost forever? There isn't anything crazy expensive, but a few sentimental items that I would hate to lose. Is there any hope to find my box?
