Mid December 2025, I bought 4 male guppies. Earlier this month, one died from stress from being harassed by the others. I got 3 more last Sunday, 1 died within 2 days, and I got a new one on Wednesday. That fish is still alive, however, another one of the 3 fish died just today, 5 days after getting him. He was doing fine initially, just started showing issues today with not swimming around and hanging near the top.

What I don’t understand is why. The levels in my tank are all perfect, and the tank is very clean. I change the filter medium several times a month. I also removed the most agressive guppy and haven’t seen any harassment since. There’s lots of hiding places in the tank as well.

Am I just getting unlucky with these guppies?

I used to have 4 male guppies in a 5 gallon tank. Recently one was a victim of bullying and died as a result. Now, two of the guppies are ganging up on the smaller one. I separated the smaller one, and now the two that are left in the tank are chasing and nipping at eachother. Am I just supposed to let them fight and kill eachother?
