We went to watch an old team play a game saturday and watched a bunch of rep teams on court playing clubs. Was told they are in the fixtures but it’s ok because they make it fair by making them play up. Is that done often else where?
So my kid plays netball and is mad about. Attended a couple of trials over the years, didn’t make rep. Played div 2 U13s last year and is u13 3 this year at a new club & association.
We just got told by some parents that if a kid hasnt made the dev squad by 12 they have missed the boat because they miss all the good coaching and practice. She will never catch up.
My kid is devastated and I never thought she’d feel too old to play or have a little dream crushed before 13.I would have appreciated the innocence to dream she could be a Diamond for at least another couple
of years :/
Its turned me off the sport immensely. Kiddo still has love for the game but is devastated to be told she will never play anything but club and not to bother.
I dont really know what to tell her, Ive said Im sure people have entered pathways later.
Is this really how it is though? Its sucks.
