Pre-employment checks for MoJ role-PCC and international employment history
Hi everyone,
I have recently been invited to interview for a role with the Ministry of Justice and I have a few questions about the pre-employment checks. I am hoping someone who has been through a similar situation can help.
- Overseas Police Clearance Certificate
I moved to the UK in December 2024 from overseas and have been here on a dependent visa since then. I already obtained a Police Clearance Certificate from my home country in 2024 when I applied for my UK visa.
My questions are:
- Is my existing PCC from 2024 likely to still be acceptable or will I need a new one?
- Since I have now been living in the UK for over a year, would a UK DBS check be enough instead of getting a new overseas PCC?
- Or will they require both?
- International Employment History
All of my previous work experience was overseas before I moved to the UK. Does MoJ contact previous employers directly for verification or do they ask you to provide supporting documents such as employment letters, contracts or payslips?
Has anyone been through this process with overseas employment history? Would love to know how it worked for you and whether it caused any delays.
Thank you 🙂
