Is Someone Attempting to Hack My Instagram Account?!?
For reference to the photo, a few minutes before receiving this first message I started to receive SMS text messages from the phone number 32099. The texts were Instagram login codes that I never requested. Obviously I become worried that someone was trying to access my account so I do everything I can to secure the account including changing the password, setting up 2FA and scanning my own face incase I lost complete access to the account.
Around the same time I began to receive a large number of follow requests from accounts and people I have never heard of. I spent hours blocking and reporting each one. After an hour or two I stopped getting the texts and stopped getting follow requests so I assumed whoever it was got bored and moved on.
After receiving another Instagram code hours later I check to see my message requests and sure enough I have one from this person I've never met or heard of. They claim that I am pretending to be their "older brother" even though my account is private and I never post or message anyone.
Obviously I know they're trying to attempt to speak with me so I can give them the code but realistically what can I do? Am I just doomed to have my account hacked? I'm scared I'll go to bed and wake up in the morning wihout access to my account.
Am I safe to continue to block and ignore all messages since I secured my account or am I still at risk? Is this happening to anyone else, I would just like someone else's input on this.
