JRA G1s "Full House" a possible feat ?
The best way to Hype up Autumn Season ...
I am particularly interested when a Jockey or Trainer manage to win a G1 they haven't won before.
There are 26 G1s races In Japan Central Racing (JRA).
the only entity to achieve 26/26 is ....to nobody surprise of course ... Sunday Racing and by extension it's 'owner' Northern Farm, they eventually achieve this feat back in 2024, but this the leading breeder in japan, whose club funded racing horse company field around 80 horses per year.
Now let's check individual feat not owner, I am talking about Trainer and Jockey, with 2 being J.G1, let's only count the flat one so 24/24.
These won't matter in battle of Greatness Debate, since it won't be fair to older generations but this will be an Unique Feat to achieve in modern age.
Nobody Covet these because nobody ever manage the feat I guess
No trainer ever close to achieve this feat, let's start with the most well known senior best trainer in Japan Yasutoshii Ikee and Yoshito Yahagi
Ikee have 24 G1s Title as trainer 23 being in JRA and 1 being Dubai Mile by soul rush. Ikee JRA G1 record being 13/24
Yahagi have 25 G1s but, 10 being overseas ... and 1 being NAR's only G1 Tokyo Daishoten.
The funny part is he have 13/24 ... with only Japan Derby Being the only repeat G1 win of horses he ever trained .. Deep Brilliante and Contrail
some top trainers as comparisons
Sugai 11/24
Nobuyuki hori 10/24
Tetsuya kimura 12/24
Haruki Sugiyama 8/24
Takahisa tezuka 8/24
Honorary mention (already retired)
Kunieda 13/24
Trainer have limited stable allocations means limited horses they can trains, but a jockey can ride over 1000 times a year, so this the most likely scenario to achieve!!!
Once again this post ain't about Greatness Debate, as I only count the different JRA's G1 achieved.
The closest to achieve this feat would be of course John Keiba himself
Yutaka Take, 23/24 .... with only Hopeful stakes being missing
at this stage of his career Yutaka Take more known for handling older talented but struggling horses, find amazing 2 y/o horse only matter of luck.... as matter of fact he only have 1 title each for Juvenile fillies and Futurity stakes....
Lemaire 22/24 .. Missing Futurity stakes and Osaka Hai
I believe futurity stakes only matter of time ... Lemaire First Pick of top horse, but Osaka hai usually overlooked for middle east race or even Hong Kong QEII cup so .... Lemaire will have hard time to get a chance of his top mount race there LOL.
Mirco Demuro 20/24.. missing Tenno Sho Spring,Victoria Mile,Yasuda Kinen, and Shuka Sho.
Getting the horse injured often reputation didn't help mirco these past years . but he still have demands for ride but not top horses.
Yuga Kawada 18/24... Missing Tenno Sho (Both Haruten and akiten), Japan Cup ,Arima Kinen, Victoria Mile, and February Stakes.
being thrown by 2 grey horses in 2 of these G1 races didn't help
Yuga Kawada Being only 40 y/o if he have no trainer ambition, he might even extend the records if more G1s added in the future.
Right now these 4 are the closest to achieve this "full house" feat
some famous jockeys as comparisons
Yasunari Iwata 15/24
Norihiro Yokohama 15/24
Kenichi Ikezoe 14/24
Kohei Matsuyama 9/24
Keita Tosaki 9/24
Yuichi Kitamura 9/24
Hiroyuki Uchida 8/24
Damian lane 8/24
Ryusei Sakai 5/24
Honorable Mentions since they retired
Yukio Okabe 17/21*
Yuichi Fukunaga 18/24
Masayoshi Ebina 18/24
Katsumi Ando 15/24
*During Okabe retirement, 3 races yet to become G1
