3rd place of Oka Sho '97 (the winner of the race was Kyoei March (grandmother of Marche Lorraine), while the second place was Mejiro Dober) - but never won the graded stakes afterwards.

Probably one of the oldest still living direct descendants of Sunday Silence (photo taken at anniversary of his death), currently living in small retirement farm Candy Farm in Urakawa.

Godolphin trainer John Gosden is considering 🇯🇵G1 Autumn Tenno Sho for Ombudsman after 4th place loss at Juddmonte International.

Source (Sky Bet Sporting Life)

"A mile and a quarter race in Japan" refers to none other than Autumn Tenno Sho or Akiten (2000m/10f). Ombudsman is currently the world's highest-rated racehorse under that distance. Akiten has a really good prize money offer too, higher than any European G1 race that isn't the Arc.

Looks like Japan during the autumn season is possibly getting a strong batch of raiders👀

Dokofukukaze, a mare blind in one eye, won her maiden race by six lengths today at Kawasaki Racecourse.

.

News Source

Race Footage

.

For her story before debut, feel free to check out my previous post.

Because of microphthalmia, Dokofukukaze (ドコフクカゼ) was born blind in her left eye. Despite that, she grew into a strong and healthy mare and never had any trouble running. After overcoming several setbacks, she was finally registered as a racehorse. She made her debut three weeks ago and finished fourth.

Dokofukukaze's breeding farm created a YouTube channel dedicated to her, and on Umafuri, a serialized story is currently being published, following her journey to becoming a racehorse.

Among the staff, she is called "Fuku-chan" (福ちゃん), with "Fuku" meaning "happiness" or "good fortune" in Japanese.

.

August 19, 2026, she returned to the dirt track at Kawasaki for her second attempt in a 1,400 meters race. She performed well throughout the race, successfully overtook her rivals in the final straight, and won by six lengths.

Her jockey since her debut, Shuma Niihara (新原 周馬), said after the race that her defeat in her previous race was due to the sand kicked up into her face while running behind other horses, something she managed to overcome this time.

It showed how well she can learn from experience and that she still has plenty of room to improve.

After her first victory, she received countless cheers and blessings from her fans. Hope her journey ahead will be filled with even more love, happiness, and success.

Thoroughbred Collection Plushies question.

Just recently I decided to get some plushies of some horses (yeah, thanks to Uma Musume) that I liked.

But, it came to my attention that some of them are just released in certain size while others have more variants, and have re-release constantly. Like Orfevre can be found from tiny to big size. However, Mr. C.B. has only two plushies, and one was released last month and in big size. There's no small version of him.

And there are others that don't even have a plushie version despite having G1 victories. Like Super Creek, as far as I know, there's no plushie of him in any size at all. Despite being part of the three great in Oguri's era.

So, my question is: is there a reason as to why some horses don't have any plushie at all? And, why others have more releases than others?

Tbh, I really want one of Super Creek, and a small version of Mr. C.B.

JRA G1s "Full House" a possible feat ?

The best way to Hype up Autumn Season ...

I am particularly interested when a Jockey or Trainer manage to win a G1 they haven't won before.

There are 26 G1s races In Japan Central Racing (JRA).

the only entity to achieve 26/26 is ....to nobody surprise of course ... Sunday Racing and by extension it's 'owner' Northern Farm, they eventually achieve this feat back in 2024, but this the leading breeder in japan, whose club funded racing horse company field around 80 horses per year.

Now let's check individual feat not owner, I am talking about Trainer and Jockey, with 2 being J.G1, let's only count the flat one so 24/24.

These won't matter in battle of Greatness Debate, since it won't be fair to older generations but this will be an Unique Feat to achieve in modern age.

Nobody Covet these because nobody ever manage the feat I guess

No trainer ever close to achieve this feat, let's start with the most well known senior best trainer in Japan Yasutoshii Ikee and Yoshito Yahagi

Ikee have 24 G1s Title as trainer 23 being in JRA and 1 being Dubai Mile by soul rush. Ikee JRA G1 record being 13/24

Yahagi have 25 G1s but, 10 being overseas ... and 1 being NAR's only G1 Tokyo Daishoten.

The funny part is he have 13/24 ... with only Japan Derby Being the only repeat G1 win of horses he ever trained .. Deep Brilliante and Contrail

some top trainers as comparisons

Sugai 11/24

Nobuyuki hori 10/24

Tetsuya kimura 12/24

Haruki Sugiyama 8/24

Takahisa tezuka 8/24

Honorary mention (already retired)

Kunieda 13/24

Trainer have limited stable allocations means limited horses they can trains, but a jockey can ride over 1000 times a year, so this the most likely scenario to achieve!!!

Once again this post ain't about Greatness Debate, as I only count the different JRA's G1 achieved.

The closest to achieve this feat would be of course John Keiba himself

Yutaka Take, 23/24 .... with only Hopeful stakes being missing

at this stage of his career Yutaka Take more known for handling older talented but struggling horses, find amazing 2 y/o horse only matter of luck.... as matter of fact he only have 1 title each for Juvenile fillies and Futurity stakes....

Lemaire 22/24 .. Missing Futurity stakes and Osaka Hai

I believe futurity stakes only matter of time ... Lemaire First Pick of top horse, but Osaka hai usually overlooked for middle east race or even Hong Kong QEII cup so .... Lemaire will have hard time to get a chance of his top mount race there LOL.

Mirco Demuro 20/24.. missing Tenno Sho Spring,Victoria Mile,Yasuda Kinen, and Shuka Sho.

Getting the horse injured often reputation didn't help mirco these past years . but he still have demands for ride but not top horses.

Yuga Kawada 18/24... Missing Tenno Sho (Both Haruten and akiten), Japan Cup ,Arima Kinen, Victoria Mile, and February Stakes.

being thrown by 2 grey horses in 2 of these G1 races didn't help

Yuga Kawada Being only 40 y/o if he have no trainer ambition, he might even extend the records if more G1s added in the future.

Right now these 4 are the closest to achieve this "full house" feat

some famous jockeys as comparisons

Yasunari Iwata 15/24

Norihiro Yokohama 15/24

Kenichi Ikezoe 14/24

Kohei Matsuyama 9/24

Keita Tosaki 9/24

Yuichi Kitamura 9/24

Hiroyuki Uchida 8/24

Damian lane 8/24

Ryusei Sakai 5/24

Honorable Mentions since they retired

Yukio Okabe 17/21*

Yuichi Fukunaga 18/24

Masayoshi Ebina 18/24

Katsumi Ando 15/24

*During Okabe retirement, 3 races yet to become G1

After focusing on breeding for a good while, Symboli Stud will jump back to racing with the debut of foreign-bred Sweet Blues.

Netkeiba page

Sweet Blues is a 2 y/o filly sired by European 4 G1 sprinter-miler champion Space Blues (Dubawi). She is set to debut soon, although the actual date is not disclosed yet.

Gonna give it a shot this weekend, want to be able to watch it later with friends.

(16/8/2026 - ALW 2 WIN) [Dirt 1800m] Like the name imply, last favorite Ruler Rich claimed victory with 94.3 odds. Is this why we love horse racing? (Sire: Rulership)

Apparently, A Train, an Efforia progeny who just debuted around a week ago, has passed away.

The first active Efforia progeny that passed away. RIP.

Re: Sirius Symboli and Prix Sea Sick (OP)

While combing through the racehorse Mogami's progeny I had to look at his sire Sirius Symboli's racing form over on Wikipedia, which lists these races for his 1986 European campaign:

Processing img 3468bo6e75kh1...

I bring your attention to a May 6, 1986 2000-meter Open-level race named "Prix Sea Sick" (シーシック賞), held at Saint-Cloud racecourse, where ridden by Éric Legrix (who had previously ridden him for the Prix du Prince d'Orange on September 15 the previous year), he finished third behind a horse named Tilt.

Notice the lack of attribution. It being assigned an Open-level designation, despite the fact that even in 1986, the lowest level of Group designations available for French horse races was Listed. Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Listed.

That would've been fine, if I had been able to track down what this "Prix Sea Sick" was. Who "the racehorse Tilt" was. If any races over 2000 meters of soft ground had been held on May 6, 1986. If I could find any other horses who participated on the same race that day. Even just another detailed list of the participants, conditions, and other relevant information on the same race held before or after 1986.

No luck.

Since there was no attribution I could find on English Wikipedia, I checked Japanese Wikipedia, despite my lacking working knowledge of Nihongo. All I could find was this:

Processing img 4mtm29a9c5kh1...

Same lack of attribution, but this time the race was held at Longchamp instead of at Saint-Cloud. Nothing I could find online.

Let's try Japanese netkeiba, surely it's more comprehensive!

Processing img w0qzpnxke5kh1...

That's fine, let's click "Past Seasmic Awards"! (Oh, machine translation.)

Processing img pfqqzmzle5kh1...

Check JBIS!... which only lists down the six most recent races Sirius Symboli was a part of. Hahahahaha.

Dammit, keibalab!

Processing img 57shvovij5kh1...

... ahonoora!!!

Processing img fnw9v0stj5kh1...

Perhaps if I check for any information on the origins of the race, who it was named after, when it was first held... no, nothing. Pedigree Query turns up four horses, one of whom a user apparently forgot to add the details, the others British or American, and the last a French horse who apparently was foaled in 1905 and competed in two important races, the end.

Perhaps if I check for the race record or stallion record of the apparent Prix Sea Sick winner Tilt... no, haha, of course not. Nearest damn thing I could find was apparently a participant in the July 1986 Grand Prix de Lyon, but nothing at all to indicate that he participated in a horse race earlier that year.

Sigh.

I guess I'll have to write France Galop anyway (request for further information on this Prix Sea Sick, request for a detailed breakdown of all races in France Sirius Symboli was a part of [participants, prize money, finish times, jockeys and trainers, so on and so forth], request to have their answer be used as future reference material, etc), but perhaps there's anyone here on this sub who can supply even anecdotal information not derived from Japanese sources?
