One of the horses under his stable is daughter of Normcore Dream Core - who is running at Oaks this week.
It's Tabaru, who's yet to know what hell he comes into for his return to Hanshin.
While people maybe not know Miss Bianca (sire: Lord Kanaloa) name, they certainly can recognize the name of her mother - Chateau Blanche, mother of Equinox, Exceed, Equatore (and the later unnamed Kitasan foals from '25 and '26) - while Nera Bianca is filly born from Kitasan himself, making her sister-niece to that bunch.
Her debut under Silk Racing and Yuichi Fukunaga stable currently delayed due to right foreleg suspensory ligament inflammation, but she still in training mode and grown to a big 497 kg of weight mass.
Sound True, 2 G1 dirt winner and winner of JBC Classic (JPN1), along with being multiple podium placer of G1 and JPN1 dirt races to be called big collector (2nd place in JBC Classic (2 times), Kawasaki Kinen, and Tokyo Daishoten - and 3rd place in Teio Sho (2 times), JBC Classic, Tokyo Daishoten and Champions Cup) retired after 8 years of racing while being 11 years old in 2021 - and despite being a gelding, he is currently kept at his birthplace, Okada Stud, as a meritorious horse.
Fortunately, both horse and a jockey are reported to be safe - with Takasugi also scheduled to run Sweet Happiness in Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks) next week.
The best filly (now mare) of last year Embroidery continue to prove herself on the track with getting her first G1 title of senior year in Tokyo with Cristophe Lemaire on her side - while her rival Kamunyak with Yuga Kawada still continuing being right behind her on 2nd place.
The most heated result today meanwhile was 3rd place of the podium, which was a nose distance decided through extensive discussion between 5-year-old Queen's Walk (A. Nishimura) and 4-year-old Erika Express (Y. Take), with the former winning bronze and making the race winning podium exactly 1-2-3 in terms of favorites. Head distance behind that pair ended 6-year-old Coconuts Brown (Y. Kitamura).
Nishino Ti Amo (A. Tsumura) ended on 6th place, Jocelyn (K.Tosaki) - on 8th, Ma Puce (F.Goncalves) - on 9th, Bond Girl (Y.Tannai) - on 11th, Kelly Fled Ask (M.Dee) - on 14th, double tiara of '24 Cervinia (D. Lane) - on 16th place out of 18.
The horse who put the mark was Wolf Man, 3-year-old colt sired by Fierement (jockey: Akihide Tsumura) - who broke his maiden title at Tokyo, R5.
On Derby week, Iwata Sr. supposed to ride Ask Edinburgh - but with his current condition it's impossible, and now team also need to look for backup.
During maiden race at Niigata, Akatsuki Tomita went switching from the outside gate, switching lanes and completely obstructing the way for half of the participant horses, to win 4 lengths over on Akau Flugel (filly, sire: Kitasan Black) - and only got away with the suspension for two days, without the place demoting.
Fortunately - no incidents happened during the race (outside one of blocked horses, Cool Field, not finished - but it seems like not a serious injury).
Yankee Barows and Mirai Iwata, who fell from the horse after collision, not had major injuries and seems to be OK (he is still scheduled to race tomorrow, despite the earlier suspension from a different race), while Yoshimura condition is under surveillance.
Rest in peace, Ipheion.
Even with the smallest field of six horses after withdrawal of some candidates, race went not really that predictable in terms of favorites.
Today's winner is the second favorite 7-year-old Shihono Speranza (J.Takada), sired by Black Tide (poor Kitasan Black father really can't catch a break with sudden pops of graded racers right when he got old and supposed to retire, really), who took a 3 lengths win over 5th favorite 5-year-old gelding son of Gold Ship Golden Slope (K.Oehara) - who took very impressive performance today.
Four lengths behind him ended 4th favorite Meisho Atsuita (Y.Namba), 8-year-old sired by Fenomeno. The favorite of the race, 2nd place of the last Nakayama Daishogai 8-year-old Kizunaling Neviim (K.Komaki), ended fourth, slightly behind him.
5th place gone to Vradia (S.Ueno), who was least favored horse by polls, and 3rd favorite Danon Rocky (Y. Igarashi) was completely out of race and finished last with big margin over 10 lengths behind.
Not the big race, but still decent fight with four first places were placed only by neck distance length from each other.
Today winner is 7-year-old Carrot Farm gelding sired by Harbinger Gran Dia, with Atsuya Nishimura on the back. On 2nd place - another 7-year-old horse from Teruya Yoshida, sired by Spielberg Ballet Master and his jockey Kazuki Kikuzawa. 3rd place taken by Fukuno Blue Lake - 4-year-old sired by Win Bright, with Francisco Goncalves on the back, and on 4th place ended the favorite of the race - half-brother of Regaleira sired by Duramente, 7-year-old Douradores with Cristophe Lemaire.
Sekitoba East (S.Hamanaka), 5-year-old half sister of Giovanni, ended on 7th place. Rhinebeck (A.Tomita), Makoto Kaneko 9-year-old gelding from Deep Impact and Apapane, ended on 12th place.
Half-brother of Kitasan Black, Sugar Kun (Y. Take), after the long absence from racing, shown decent performance with front running most of the race - but got completely blown off at the end, and finished at very last 15th place.
While this week is having another G1 race with the battle among the older mares, it is relatively chill, before the next week bring the Classics run back in the action with the Japanese Oaks.
