Homelander is a satirical and pretty accurate depiction/parody of God.
A lot of people consider "Homelander" to be a satire or parody of certain political figures or politicians. But, in my eyes he very closely captures the character of Abrahamic "God".
There are various parallels between them, here are a few I can list right now :
Personality wise :
- Wants people to love him
- Wants people to worship him
- Wants absolute obedience and worship
- Is very arrogant and selfish
- Views "Disbelief" and "Doubt" against him as the most heinous thing/sin (especially relevant for the Islamic God)
- Threatens disbelievers of punishment in their message
- Promises believers to be rewarded by milk and honey (or rivers of it)
In terms of actions :
- Has taken lives of innocents
- Didn't act to save people when he easily could have
- Has tortured people
- Could have used the power to make the world a much better and peaceful place but didn't
That's what I felt during the show and especially in the finale episode.
