Taiwan and Hongkong Travel

I usually like to learn some basic phrases in local languages when traveling to make my life a bit easier. I am traveling to Taiwan and Hong Kong soon, and I wonder if I should learn Cantonese or Mandarin. I already learned a bit of Mandarin when I traveled to China recently, but I’m wondering if I should continue practicing it more or switch to Cantonese since I heard it’s more commonly spoken in these destinations.

I would love to hear input from locals who live in these two places. Thanks so much in advance!

Munich - Neuschwanstein Castle

Hi everyone, I am traveling to Munich in early January next year to visit Neuschwanstein Castle, and it will be my first time in Germany. I am debating between renting a car and taking a bus from Munich Central Bus Station to Schwangau. Obviously, renting a car will be more expensive, but it would also be faster and more convenient since we could stop whenever we want to take photos.

I was wondering how easy it is to get around Munich and the Schwangau area without a car, especially since my main purpose for the trip is photography. I would love to be able to reach some good photo spots, particularly higher viewpoints like the image attached below.

If you have rented a car and driven from Munich to Schwangau before, I would love to hear your thoughts or advice. Are there any places worth stopping at along the drive?

I am also looking for any advice or input about visiting the castle itself if you have been there before. I have seen quite a few mixed opinions about the experience.

Thanks so much!

Norway, Sweden, or Finland for January Northern Lights?

Hi everyone, I am planning for a trip to see the Northern Lights in early January next year, and I am debating which country to choose for a 3-4 nights trip. I have not been to any of these countries before, so I would love to hear your thoughts.

Right now, I am debating between Oslo and Tromsø or Abisko and Rovaniemi. However, it looks like it may be a bit difficult to get to Abisko since there are no direct flights from Stockholm, and the train ride seems quite long.

I will be flying from Paris and will need to head to Austria after spending 3 nights in one of these destinations. Which option would be the best for my itinerary and for maximizing my chances of seeing the Northern Lights?

Thank you in advance!

Hi everyone, I am planning to visit Paris for the New Year countdown celebration this year. I heard that public transportation may close early, around 4 PM, and that you would need to arrive around 7–8 PM due to the crowds. Are there any other advice you would give to someone who has never been to Paris before?

Just curious, but is it really worth it to cram into the Arc de Triomphe area for the light show and fireworks, or is there another location that you would recommend?

Thank you so much in advance!

Hi all, I will be visiting Hong Kong for 3 days and 2 nights in December and am deciding between the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong and the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui. My main priority is having a decent view. I was leaning toward the Grand Hyatt since I read that it offers better views of the other side of the harbor. However, I have also seen people mention that it is less convenient than the Hyatt Regency, so I am having trouble deciding. I would really appreciate input from anyone who has stayed at either or both of these properties, especially on which offers the better view. Not sure if this helps, but I will have Globalist benefits for the stay, so food and the club lounge are also factors I am considering. Thanks in advance!
